Bank Of America Grows Philanthropy Arm

The appointments reflect the profile of philanthropy work in the private bank. Recent reports show how donations to various causes rose during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bank of America – which reported fourth-quarter results in late January – has appointed Jennifer Chandler (pictured), one of its senior figures in the private banking arm and based in Texas, as its head of philanthropic solutions. And it has appointed Don Green to be in charge of its donor-advised fund strategy.

In her new role, Chandler will take responsibility for growing private and institutional philanthropy businesses within the Bank of America Private Bank; this will involve leading a team of nearly 200 specialists across the US. The team oversees $65 billion in discretionary outsourced chief investment office assets for non-profits and more than $63 billion in additional philanthropic assets.

Chandler, who joined Bank of America in 2001, has served in a number of leadership roles in the private bank. Her other roles include: president of Bank of America in Dallas; Bank of America Charitable Foundation committee member; and executive sponsor for the Bank of America Community Volunteers.

Separately, Greene’s role is a new one for the bank, reflecting the rising profile and size of DAFs as a channel for philanthropic activity.

Greene has been at the bank since 2006, taking on various roles – most recently he was head of private bank family office solutions, and lead for philanthropic solutions across the Merrill business.

Chandler and Greene report to Jeff Busconi, head of products, services and platforms for the private bank spanning trust and wealth structuring, investments, banking, philanthropy and art services. Busconi reports to Katy Knox, president of the Bank of America Private Bank.

This news service talked to the private bank late in 2021 about the path of philanthropy and the impact of the pandemic.
