The expanding wealth management business, which has made numerous hires recently, names the first senior figure for a new office in Florida.

Rockefeller Capital Management, which has made a raft of hires in recent weeks, named the first person to join its newly-opened office in Florida.

The firm named Douglas R Dubiel, who will join Rockefeller Wealth Management as a managing director and senior wealth management advisor, starting in November.

Dubiel has 27 years of wealth management experience and will report to Michael Outlaw, who the firm previously announced will lead Rockefeller Wealth Management’s growth strategy in the Eastern US, including opening Rockefeller Capital Management’s Atlanta office.

Prior to this, Dubiel was at a billion-dollar family office in West Palm Beach, Florida, where he was the chief operating officer and trustee for the past four years, and before that he spent nine years as the chief investment officer and trustee. Previously, Dubiel was a senior vice president for Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, working with corporate executives, business owners and wealthy families on all facets of wealth accumulation, distribution and transfer strategies for 14 years.

Graduating from Cornell University, Dubiel has served on the board of Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, Massachusetts. Dubiel will be based in Palm Beach and expects to spend time in Rockefeller’s Boston and New York City offices, assisting its East Coast client development.

A year ago, Rockefeller Financial Services, alongside banking and investment veteran (ex-Morgan Stanley) Greg Fleming, announced that it was launching Rockefeller Capital Management. The new organization will concentrate on wealth management, asset management and strategic advisory. Fleming had been president of Morgan Stanley Wealth and Asset Management and, before that, the president of Merrill Lynch. Viking Global Investors LP is backing RCM through an investment by one of its investment funds.
