High Profile Meet Set For India Art Expo 2009

India's high profile individuals are expected to gather on 25-27  September for the much awaited Art Expo India 2009 in Mumbai.

Top local and international art galleries will be taking part in the event, which promises to draw in not only the world personalities and enthusiasts of art, but also the country's affluent demographic who are looking for alternative areas to place their money.

India's art market has suffered a drop in prices as a result of the financial crisis, but experts believe that the industry is gradually experiencing a recovery. According to market researcher ArtTactic, prices for contemporary Indian art had gone down 76 per cent from September 2008 to March 2009 to around $13,827 per piece. This contrasts with current auction prices, which now hit around $24,536 each.

Art Expo India 2009 will be graced by over 10,000 art lovers, buyers, corporate decision makers, high net worth individuals, leading Indian business families, and top celebrities.
