Global Art Firm Expands West Coast Presence

Christie's will soon be unveiling a new branch in the Golden State.

Christie’s, the global art business, is opening a new office in Beverly Hills, CA, in April.

The firm said the move is in response to growing demand among Los Angeles-area collectors for greater access to buying and selling opportunities, as well as fine art advisory and appraisal services, private selling exhibitions, auction highlight tours, and art-related estate and wealth management services.

“The expansion of our West Coast footprint is a key growth initiative for Christie’s in 2017,” said Guillaume Cerutti, chief executive. “With its vibrant community of major collectors, artists, tastemakers and cultural institutions, Southern California has been an important market for Christie’s for nearly four decades and is now one of our most active regions for new buyers.”

The Los Angeles project mirrors Christie’s recent growth in Mainland China, where the company has been working to increase access to online and saleroom collecting opportunities, arts engagement and educational partnerships.

Mainland China and the West Coast region of the US have accounted for the largest influx of the firm's new buyers in recent years, it said.
