Credit Agricole’s Swiss Operations Get HK Banking Licence

Credit Agricole has been granted a restricted banking licence to operate in the Special Administrative Region by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority . The Swiss bank is expected to use the licence to build up its operations in Hong Kong as well as the region. The bank also has an office in Singapore. Crédit Agricole was formed in March 2005 when the Crédit Lyonnais and the Crédit Agricole Indosuez merged. The bank’s presence in Switzerland dates back to 1876, when Crédit Lyonnais opened its first branch in Geneva.
