Sonance Financial has launched a Canadian advisory wealth management partnership bringing together four founding advisory firms serving more than 1,400 families with about C$2.3 billion in combined assets under management.

With founding partners in Alberta, Ontario, and Arizona, Sonance brings together founder-led advisory firms under a partnership model designed to preserve their strengths, cultures and client relationships while expanding access to specialized expertise, technology and resources to support long-term growth.

“A successful advisory firm is built over years, through the judgement of its people and the relationships they earn with their clients,” said Danielle Skipp, chief executive officer of Sonance Financial. “Sonance Financial was formed to build around the strengths of existing independent advisory firms, preserving what makes them successful in the first place, while bringing the resources and expertise required to thrive in today’s business environment for the benefit of their clients for generations.”

Advantage Financial Services in Lethbridge, SONA Wealth Counsel in Ottawa, JV Financial in Edmonton, and Transition Financial Advisors Group in Arizona are the founding partners of Sonance Financial. Together they bring expertise in retirement, estate and tax planning, fiduciary investment advice, and Canada-US financial planning in a partnership service model under a single national brand.

Sonance Financial, a Canadian company, is backed by Miami-headquartered Trivest Partners, a private investment firm with over 45 years of experience partnering with entrepreneur-led businesses across North America. Trivest’s expertise and financial support enables Sonance Financial and its partner firms to invest in infrastructure and the next generation of talent it needs to serve its clients through generations, the firm said in a statement.

“We built Sona on three key principles: independence, advice from qualified professionals, and that the client must be at the center of everything we do. This partnership only strengthens those commitments,” said Thomas Ryan, founder of Sona Wealth Counsel. “Our clients now get access to more like-minded professionals, including specialists in cross-border tax and estate planning, and a firm with the strength to be here for them and the next generation.”

“We founded Sonance to gain more operational control. We have designed and implemented the technology that will allow us to deliver exceptional service to our clients,” said Ryan Peterson, founder of Advantage Financial Services. “Our Sonance partnership gives us the opportunity to leverage best practices of an expanded group across the country while preserving our service model, our client relationships and our approach to managing our clients’ portfolios. This is the future of independent wealth management in Canada.”
