This publication was deeply saddened to hear of the recent passing of Stephen “Steve” Prostano, one of the prominent wealth management figures in North America and founder of the UHNW Institute. In 2023, this publication was delighted to honor Steve with a lifetime achievement. See more about the awards program here. The Institute has carried its own obituary and thoughts about Steve here.
In a career that lasted for more than 40 years, Steve was CEO of Silver Bridge, president of Atlantic Trust and a global partner of Amvescap, president of Chase Global Asset Management, and an executive vice president at FleetBoston Financial. He later led Family Wealth Advisors at Bank of the West, an affiliate of BNP Paribas, where he helped build its global multi-family office platform. He subsequently joined PKF O’Connor Davies, where he advised private business owners and families.
Family Wealth Report has been honored to be exclusive media partner with the Institute and enjoyed covering how it has steadily built a reputation for incisive insights. Engaging with Steve during this process was a pleasure, and the editorial team can attest to how helpful and insightful he was. Steve’s goal was to raise the caliber of what high-quality wealth management and service should look like. In a relatively short space of time, he succeeded. The Institute has now spread beyond North America in its network.
“Steve’s superpower was that he was able to turn aspirations into reality. His ability to inspire an entire industry will be sorely missed. A true friend to me personally and to all my colleagues,” Stephen Harris, CEO and publisher of Family Wealth Report, said in his own tribute.
