Carson Group Launches Equity Program For Advisors, Support Staff

Carson Group, a wealth advisory firm with more than $60 billion in assets under management, has launched an equity program designed to give ownership stakes to high-growth W-2 advisors and top-performing team members within its network. The firm said the initiative reflects its strategy of investing in the people driving its growth, deepening client relationships and shaping its future, rather than limiting equity to a single stage of an advisor's career. "Our business is built by exceptional people, and this new equity program reflects our belief that the advisors and team members creating long-term value for Carson should have the opportunity to share in that success," said Burt White, CEO of Carson Group. Equity ownership within Carson's W-2 channel has historically been reserved largely for founding advisors as part of their acquisition deal structure. The new program broadens that access across the lifecycle of an integrated office, allowing advisors in the final year of their acquisition-related growth incentives to participate, while also opening a path for next-generation advisors and operational team members who previously had no route to ownership, Carson said in a statement. The move comes as equity participation is becoming an increasingly central bargaining chip in RIA dealmaking. Advisor Growth Strategies has reported that firms offering equity can command valuations roughly 20 per cent higher than those that do not, with equity participation in M&A deals climbing from about 25 per cent in 2024 to 29 per cent in 2025 and projected to reach a third of deals this year. Buyers and consultants alike have argued that equity is becoming "no longer optional" for firms competing to retain talent as valuations climb and succession planning grows more complex. Carson said rising valuations and increasingly complex ownership transitions have left many G2 and G3 advisors with fewer paths to ownership than earlier generations enjoyed. The firm frames its program as a way of closing that gap, alongside a dedicated equity track for team members in operational and support roles. "Over the past several years, we've spent a great deal of time listening to advisors about what they want from a long-term partner," White said. "One theme came through consistently: They want the opportunity to be part of what we're building. Carson has tremendous momentum, and our advisors want to help shape that future while sharing in the success we're creating together. The Carson Equity Program is our response to that feedback, and we couldn't be more excited to bring this opportunity to our advisors and their teams as we continue investing in the people building Carson's future."
