Rockefeller Global Family Office, the wealth management arm of Rockefeller Capital Management, has added Variant Path Group, a 10-person team based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Variant team – which used to be with Morgan Stanley – includes: managing director and private advisor Taylor Barden; senior vice president, private advisor, and team chief investment officer Tory Raether; SVPs and private advisors Kristen Richards, James Freeman, and C  Lee Ives III; vice presidents and private advisors Harper Hicks and James Waters; senior client associates Alyce Noonan and Maggi Brown; and wealth management analyst Ashley Haisch.

The group will report to Kristen Sario, Southeast divisional director of Rockefeller Global Family Office.

“The Charlotte area is one of the fastest growing in the United States and Variant Path Group brings deep ties to the community dating back more than 60 years,” Christopher Dupuy, president of Rockefeller Global Family Office, said.

Rockefeller’s wealth division has been busy recently adding teams around the country. In early February, for example, it added Lewis Wealth Partners – the firm’s first private advisor team based in Richmond, Virginia. In January, it brought in Axiom Wealth Partners, a business with 26 people based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In November 2023, it added Moon Wealth Partners, of Bethesda, Maryland.

RCM has expanded rapidly since it was established in 2018. The firm’s origins date to the family office set up in 1882 by energy tycoon John D Rockefeller.  As of December 31, 2023, the organization was responsible for $122 billion in client assets across its three businesses, Rockefeller Global Family Office, Rockefeller Asset Management, and Rockefeller Strategic Advisory.
