iShares Expands London-Listed ETF Range To 90

iShares, BlackRock’s exchange-traded funds business, has launched four new ETFs on the London Stock Exchange, bringing its total listed on the LSE to 90.

Three of the ETFs are single country (offering exposure to Australia, Canada and South Africa), while the fourth is accumulating version of the iShares DJ Euro STOXX 50.

Adding to iShares’ existing single country range, the iShares MSCI Australia, iShares MSCI Canada and iShares MSCI South Africa ETFs give exposure to companies in predominantly the financial and commodities sectors.

Aiming to track the performance of the relevant MSCI single country indices, the first of the new iShares ETFs invests in around 75 Australian stocks, with financials and materials sectors making up over 70 per cent of its benchmark; the second invests in approximately 96 Canadian stocks with commodity-related sectors making up almost 50 per cent of its benchmark; and the third invests in some 45 South African stocks with commodity-related sectors making up almost 40 per cent of its benchmark.

Lastly, the iShares DJ Euro STOXX 50 (Acc) gives exposure to fifty highly-capitalised blue chip stocks, which iShares says represent the leading companies in the Eurozone.

"iShares is now able to offer investors MSCI exposure to Australia, Canada and South Africa, whilst also providing investors with building block exposure to the highly respected and widely used MSCI World and MSCI Emerging Markets indices,” Axel Lomholt, head of product development for iShares in Europe, said in a statement.

"The existing iShares DJ Euro STOXX 50 fund has one of the highest trading volumes on the LSE and is one of our most successful European equity benchmarks, underlining our strength in core equities.”

Mr Lomholt also pointed out that all four of the funds are accumulating, and are therefore easier to manage operationally and remove the administrative burden for investors dealing with cash flows and dividends paid by the fund.
