iCapital Adds Another Golf Ambassador

iCapital adds another US brand ambassador from the world of golf to its roster.
iCapital, the New York-based fintech platform operating in the alternative asset class space, has inked a four-year ambassador partnership with Cameron Young, the 2021-22 PGA Tour “Rookie of the Year."
The deal with Young, who is ranked 17th in the Official World Golf Rankings, is another example of wealth managers, banks and other financial players sponsoring sports teams and individuals as a way of promoting and positioning their brands.
Young, who debuted the iCapital brand on his clothing at the Sentry Tournament of Champions last week in Kapalua, Hawaii, joins iCapital Brand Ambassadors Lexi Thompson and Will Zalatoris.
At 25 years old, Young achieved seven top-three finishes from 25 tournaments. In addition to being named Rookie of the Year, he made his Presidents Cup debut for the victorious US Team in September. He placed second at the 150th Open at St Andrews, in Scotland, and earned four additional runner-up finishes last season at the Sanderson Farms Championship, the Genesis Invitational, Wells Fargo Championship, and Rocket Mortgage Classic. In addition, he finished 19th in the final FedEx Cup Standings, in his first season with a PGA Tour card.
Away from golf, Young supports Folds of Honor, a non-profit organization that provides academic scholarships to the families of fallen and disabled service members and first responders. He also works with the PGA Jr League, which is committed to bringing communities together through golf.
This isn’t the first golfer that iCapital has supported. Others include Lexi Thompson and Will Zalatoris.
In further examples of sports sponsorship by financial firms, St Petersburg, Florida-based Dynasty Financial Partners has sponsored local motor racing legend Sebastien Bourdais. UBS, the Switzerland-based bank and wealth manager, is global sponsor of Formula 1, the motor racing championship series.
