Wilmington Trust Boosts Wealth Advisory Team In New Jersey

Delaware-headquartered Wilmington Trust has bolstered its wealth advisory team in New Jersey with the addition of an eight-strong team whose time will be split between offices in Saddle Brook and Princeton.

Delaware-headquartered Wilmington Trust has bolstered its wealth advisory team in New Jersey with the addition of an eight-strong team whose time will be split between offices in Saddle Brook and Princeton.

Based in Saddle Brook is: John Trobiano, private banker; Julie Burmeister, assistant private banker; Michael Huxley, senior private client advisor; and Susan Mistretta, relationship manager.

Meanwhile, working from the Princeton office is: Timothy Wade, senior investment advisor; Robert Brown, senior private client advisor; and Robert Gelsi, senior private client advisor.

The team of eight is headed by Fernando Garip, an investment professional in the New York Metropolitan area.

“This expansion into the New Jersey market is a logical step for Wilmington Trust as the demand for our wealth management services continues to grow in New Jersey, as well as in bordering states of New York, Pennsylvania, and Delaware,” said Mark Graham, Wilmington Trust's executive vice president of wealth advisory.

Garip is president of the New Jersey market for the firm, with around 30 years of experience in the asset and wealth management arenas. Before joining, he was regional director for TD Wealth. Earlier still, he served as chief investment officer and director for Commerce Asset Management, having also held senior roles at other New Jersey-based banking institutions.

Trobiano joins Wilmington Trust from TD Bank, where he was senior vice president. Previously, he was a senior vice president at Independence Community Bank, and, earlier in his career, worked for Summit Bank and Midlantic National Bank.

Meanwhile, Burmeister has worked in the financial field for over 25 years. Prior to joining Wilmington Trust, she worked at TD Bank as a client associate for six years. Before that, she worked for Sovereign Bank and Summit Bank.

Huxley also joins from TD Bank, where he was a portfolio manager from 2001 and before that worked at Summit Bank as a trader.

Mistretta has worked in various investment management and sales positions for around 30 years. She too joins Wilmington Trust from TD Bank, where she was a financial analyst since 2004. She started her career at United Jersey Bank.

Wade has over 25 years of experience in the financial industry, having been a portfolio manager at TD Wealth Management since 2003. He has also worked at Pitcairn Financial as an investment manager and at BNY Mellon and CoreStates Bank.

Brown joined Wilmington Trust in 2008 and has more than two decades of financial services experience. Previously, he was senior vice president at Bank of America, having started his career in commercial credit at First Fidelity Bank.

Lastly, Gelsi joined Wilmington Trust in 2006, having formerly been a senior trust advisor at Wachovia. He has more than 20 years of experience in financial services, specializing in tax and estate planning, business succession, and investment services.

Wilmington Trust’s wealth advisory arm offers personal trust, financial planning, fiduciary, asset management and family office services.

In other news, Wilmington Trust has also hired Linda VanNatten as a trust officer for its wealth advisory office in Albany, NY. VanNatten administers personal and corporate accounts involving trust, agencies and estates.

VanNatten previously worked at Keybank as a trust associate for six years and before that spent 17 years as a wealth associate at Wachovia Securities.

Wilmington Trust has offices throughout the US and internationally in London, Luxembourg, Frankfurt, Dublin, Amsterdam, the Cayman Islands and Channel Islands.
