The latest senior moves in asset and wealth management from across North America.

tru Independence, a platform for financial advisors, has appointed Gary Bonner as chief operating officer. 

Bonner’s addition to the team’s C-Suite is powered by the firm’s new partnership with Entwood Holdings, a group of companies providing products and services to ultra-wealthy families, advisors and institutions globally.

Bonner brings more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. Previously, he served as the COO of Avalon Advisors, an RIA based in Texas.

Berdon
Berdon LLP Accountants and Advisors has admitted Amy Joyce, CPA, JD and Ada Clapp, JD, to the partnership. This expands the firm's high net worth and family office services teams.

Joyce, who has more than 25 years of professional experience, joins as a partner and specializes in advising high net worth individuals with tax mitigation and wealth preservation strategies. She brings extensive experience with fiduciary accounting as well as estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer taxes.

Clapp joins a senior principal and is an attorney with more than 25 years of experience counseling ultra-high net worth individuals, fiduciaries, and family offices on a wide variety of matters encompassing highly sophisticated income, gift and estate tax planning, philanthropy, foundation matters, complex trust administration, fiduciary advisory, family governance, family office operations, and entity compliance, among others. 

Joyce holds a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Long Island University and a Juris Doctor degree from St John's University School of Law. Clapp earned a Juris Doctor degree from Brooklyn Law School, graduating summa cum laude as Salutatorian. She also earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science, magna cum laude, from Columbia University.

Skience
Skience, a financial services solutions and consulting provider that works with RIAs, has named Marc Butler as president and chief operating officer. Butler will oversee the company's business and technology teams.

A 25-year wealth management and financial technology veteran, Butler held leadership roles at BNY Mellon/Pershing, most recently as COO and managing director of BNY Mellon/Albridge.

SEC
The Securities and Exchange Commission has appointed Marc P Berger as deputy director of its enforcement division. He is currently director of the New York regional office, has been named Deputy Director of the Division of Enforcement.

Berger, named to his most recent role in December 2017, oversees 400 staff of enforcement attorneys, accountants, investigators and compliance examiners. The New York office is responsible for the largest concentration of SEC-registered financial institutions including more than 4,000 investment banks, investment advisors, broker-dealers, mutual funds, and hedge funds.

A former federal prosecutor, Berger became an Assistant US Attorney in the Southern District of New York (SDNY) in 2002.  

Berger received his bachelor’s degree with distinction from Cornell University in 1996 and earned his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1999. He served as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard M Berman of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
