Who's Moving Where In Wealth Management? - Nikko AM, Carey Olsen

The latest moves in wealth management across Asia and the Pacific Rim.
Nikko Asset Management
Nikko
Asset Management has appointed Rob Mann as the new head of
Asia ex-Japan equity, based in Singapore. He will be taking over
from Peter Sartori, with whom he has worked closely since 2010.
Sartori is leaving the firm to pursue other interests, Nikko AM
said. He will be leaving in September.
Mann has been with Nikko AM in the capacity of senior portfolio manager and macro specialist since 2013, joining from Treasury Asia Asset Management (TAAM), an Asian equity boutique acquired by Nikko AM. He has worked alongside every member of the Asia ex-Japan equity team. In all, he has 30 years of experience in the securities industry.
Prior to TAAM, Mann worked with Credit Suisse Asset Management in various roles between 1985 and 2008, including chief investment officer for Asia-Pacific and deputy CEO Australia. In 2007, he was made head of investments Asia Pacific, overseeing teams in Singapore, Australia and Tokyo.
Nikko Asset Management’s Asia ex-Japan equity team is a "large, stable team and will be staying in place in its current format". Responsibility for Asia ex-Japan ex-China continues to rest with Peter Sartori’s co-portfolio manager Peter Monson, who has over 12 years of Asian and emerging market experience. Responsibility for China continues to rest with Eng Teck Tan, who has over 20 years of experience.
Carey Olsen
Offshore law firm Carey Olsen has
appointed Michael Padarin as a corporate partner in its Hong Kong
office.
Padarin, who practises British Virgin Islands (BVI) and Cayman Islands law, will lead the development of Carey Olsen's new corporate offering in Hong Kong. He specialises in the formation, operation and restructuring of private investment funds, primarily private equity and venture capital funds, and their related fund sponsor vehicles.
The addition of a corporate offering in Hong Kong builds on the dispute resolution and insolvency practice as well as the corporate team in Carey Olsen's Singapore office.
Prior to joining Carey Olsen, Padarin was a partner in the Cayman Islands office of another offshore law firm for seven years, having previously spent more than four years in its Hong Kong office.
"We see the addition of a corporate practice in Hong Kong as an important next step in the development of our legal services to Asian-based clients," Alex Ohlsson, group managing partner for Carey Olsen, said.
