Who's Moving Where In Wealth Management? - Fiduciary Trust, Verdence

The latest moves in North America's wealth management sector.

Fiduciary Trust International
Fiduciary Trust International has appointed Cathy Carilli as a senior portfolio manager, based in New York. Carilli has more than 20 years of experience customizing and managing multi-asset portfolios.

Carilli joins from US Trust, Bank of America Wealth Management, where she worked for 24 years, most recently as managing director and senior portfolio manager. During her tenure there, Carilli was a member of the firm’s Custom Equity Solutions Group and Equity Approval Committee. 

Earlier in her career, Carilli was a vice president and portfolio manager at Citibank Private Bank, and senior investment manager and team leader at Citicorp Investment Services. Carilli is a CFA® charterholder, and is a member of the CFA Institute and New York Society of Security Analysts. She received her MBA in finance from Fordham University and graduated from Iona College with a BBA in finance. 

The firm has made a number of hires. In May, Maudie Long and David DeStefano joined its New York office as senior portfolio manager and trust officer, respectively.

In March, it added Kevin G Carter as a New York-based senior portfolio manager. In February 2019, it appointed S J Abrams as relationship manager also based in the New York office.

Verdence
Verdence Capital Advisors has appointed Michael Harris who has joined the firm as director of its family office business, taking on the role of partner. He will lead growth and offerings for the firm’s family office clients.

Prior to joining Verdence, Harris spent almost two decades at Campbell & Company LP, a multi-billion-dollar hedge fund where he most recently held the title of president. His responsibilities included co-running the firm’s quantitative multi-strategy hedge fund, firm-wide executive management and strategic planning. Additionally, he recently served on the board of directors for the Managed Funds Association.

Prior to this, Harris managed the firm’s trading operations, which included global execution of all financial futures, commodities, cash equities and foreign exchange. He joined Campbell & Company in 2000 as a European markets trader, and prior to that he worked at Refco Inc and Morgan Stanley Managed Futures.

Harris earned a BA with honors in economics and Japanese studies from Gettysburg College. He also studied at Kansai Gaidai University in Osaka, Japan. 

Verdence is based in Hunt Valley, Maryland, with an office in Northern Virginia.
