Who's Moving Where In Wealth Management? – Vanguard, SEIA, Others

The latest senior wealth management moves and appointments in the North American industry.

Vanguard
Vanguard, the US asset management house, said yesterday that Karin Risi, managing director and head of strategy, product, marketing and communications, intends to retire from the firm at the end of this year. Her departure wraps a career of more than 27 years.

Risi joined Vanguard in 1997, and joined its senior leadership team in 2015.

She is also a role model, Vanguard said, for aspiring female leaders. She was instrumental in the launch of the firm’s Women’s Initiative for Leadership Success more than 15 years ago, and sponsors Vanguard’s talent oversight efforts aimed at strengthening and developing the firm’s future pipeline of diverse leaders. Ms. Risi has been recognized by Barron’s as one of the 100 Most Influential Women in Finance for five consecutive years since the award’s inception.

SEIA
Signature Estate & Investment Advisors, the RIA, has brought back Canon Price to its fold by buying her firm, Beverly Investment Advisors.

Price began her wealth management career with SEIA over two decades ago; she founded her own firm 22 years ago, which has grown to more than $300 million in assets under advisement.

"It's a rewarding experience to see someone you mentored early in their career return to the firm after two decades of success,” Brian Holmes, CEO of SEIA, said.

Price’s firm is based in Beverly Hills, serving clients such as those in the entertainment sector, business owners, attorneys, and medical professionals.

Morgan Stanley
Former Morgan Stanley financial advisor Justin Pearlman has joined the employee advisor channel of Raymond James, based in Santa Barbara.

At Morgan Stanley, Pearlman managed about $190 million in client money. At Raymond James, he is joined by client service associate Paxson Russell.

Pearlman brings over 21 years of financial services industry experience to his role as senior vice president, wealth management. He began his career in 2003 at Citigroup, most recently serving at Morgan Stanley for a 15-year tenure. A Certified Financial Planner® professional, his experience is backed by a bachelor of science in computer science from the University of California at Santa Barbara.

Ameriprise
Financial advisor Gary Presslaff, a 40-year veteran in the financial services industry, recently joined an established independent Ameriprise practice, Monumental Financial Planning, in Washington DC.

Presslaff manages nearly $100 million in client assets and was most recently affiliated with LPL Financial.

Monumental Financial Planning currently manages over $350 million in client assets and includes four advisors and two support staff.
