The latest senior moves in the North American wealth management sector.

Steward Partners Global Advisory
Steward Partners Global Advisory, an employee-owned investment house, has named Mohan Gurupackiam as its chief information officer.

Gurupackiam, who has more than 25 years' experience, is taking on a newly-created role. He will report to the business’s president and chief operating officer, Hy Saporta.

"As Steward Partners continues to evolve and grow, it is critical that we identify opportunities to streamline and enhance systems, processes, and platforms that drive efficiencies and deliver best-in-class technology solutions across the firm," Saporta said.

“One of his key priorities will be the review of our existing technology, platforms, and third-party providers to ensure that current solutions meet the needs of our advisors, their teams, and clients,” he said.

Gurupackiam started his career with Tata Consultancy Services in India in 1995 and joined E*TRADE financial in 1998. He held a variety of leadership posts including executive in charge of technology for the wealth management division. In 2014 he joined Cetera where, as vice president and later as the chief technology officer, he oversaw application and data engineering across the network of broker dealers. Most recently, he was the vice president of IT at AssetMark where he was responsible for wealth management and data.

Gurupackiam has an MBA from Saint Mary's College of California, and a bachelor of engineering from the University of Madras, India. Additionally, Mohan has completed the Chief Technology Officer Program from Wharton School of Business.

Wealthspire
Wealthspire Advisors, the RIA, has appointed Jandy Rowe to lead its client services.

Prior to joining Wealthspire, Rowe worked at Wipfli Financial Advisors, where she began as a client service associate and worked her way up to chief operating officer during her career of more than 20 years. Following Wiplfi Financial Advisors’ acquisition in 2022, Rowe served as director of integration at Creative Planning.

“Jandy is a proven leader in this field with extensive experience building and operating client service teams, and we are honored to have her join the Wealthspire leadership team,” Eric Sontag, Wealthspire's president and COO, said.

Wealthspire Advisors oversees about $16.7 billion of assets under management throughout a national platform of 19 offices in 10 states.

Ameriprise Financial
Financial advisor Russell Smith recently moved his $150-million practice to the branch channel of Ameriprise Financial in Downers Grove, Illinois.

Smith has switched firms after two decades with Edward Jones in order to have access to more resources and products to serve his high net worth client base. Client service associate Sheila Lindsay, who has 20 years of experience in the industry, and Ameriprise complex director Jay Hubbard support Smith’s practice.

The firm has attracted about 1,600 financial advisors in the past five years.
