The latest moves and appointments in wealth management in the Americas.

Principal
Principal Asset Management has appointed Michael Goosay as managing director of global fixed income and portfolio manager on select strategies.

The firm’s income platform had assets under management of $135.7 billion as at June 30. More than 110 investment professionals work in this area at Principal. 

Goosay will take on leadership responsibilities across the platform. This includes being named as a portfolio manager on Principal fixed income’s flagship short-term income, core, core plus and US/global multi-sector strategies and associated products.

Goosay has more than 25 years of investment industry experience. He previously spent 14 years at Goldman Sachs Asset Management as head of global pensions and multi-sector fixed income portfolio management. He also served as a member of the Goldman Sachs Fixed Income Business Development Committee and the macroeconomic outlook team. Prior to this role, Goosay held leadership positions at Drake Management, JP Morgan, Prudential Financial, and GE Asset Management. 

Argent Trust Company
Argent Trust Company has appointed Margaret Velasquez as business development officer in the San Antonio, Texas market. 

Velasquez will report directly to chief investment strategist Tom Stringfellow.

With 35 years in the financial services industry, Velasquez served in leadership positions at Frost Bank, most recently as key accounts, sales support marketing manager, and senior vice president of Frost Investment Advisors.

Velasquez holds the Accredited Fiduciary Investment Manager designation. She is a member of the Association of Accredited Fiduciary Investment Managers offered by Cannon Financial Institute and the Center for Fiduciary Studies. She gained the Certified Financial Plannerâ„¢ certificate from the University of Texas at Austin.
