Who's Moving Where In Wealth Management? – Polar Capital, Rockefeller AM, Others

The latest senior moves, appointments and adjustments in wealth management roles across North America.

Polar Capital
Asset manager Polar Capital has appointed Morgan Lee to join its business development team, covering the west coast of America, specifically west of the Rockies.

Lee will be based in California and report to Alastair Barrie, managing director for North America, who leads the four-strong team that also includes Adam Schneider and recent hire David Smithwick.

With more than 25 years of institutional investment experience, most recently Lee was vice president and regional director for Dimensional Fund Advisors. Prior to Dimensional Fund Advisors, Lee spent 11 years at Wisdom Tree Investments where he covered firms on the west coast of America, including RIAs and family offices.

“As we build further capabilities in the US, we need experts to work in partnership with our clients to provide the support they need and I am very pleased to welcome Morgan to the team. His extensive knowledge, experience and relationships will help us continue to grow the business and see even more success in the US market,” Barrie said.

Iain Evans, global head of distribution at Polar Capital, added: "We continue to extend our reach in the US, which is a key market for us. This senior appointment reflects the region’s importance to our growth plans and our ongoing commitment to provide our US clients and prospective clients with exceptional service and support.”

Founded in 2001, Polar Capital has 13 investment teams managing specialist, active and capacity constrained portfolios, with combined assets under management of ÂŁ21.9 billion ($26.9 billion) as at the end of March this year. It is principally located in London and maintains offices in the UK, France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, the US, Singapore and China.

Rockefeller Asset Management
Rockefeller Asset Management, the asset management arm of Rockefeller Capital Management, has appointed three high yield and investment grade municipal bond professionals: Scott Cottier, managing director and portfolio manager; Mark DeMitry and Michael Camarella â€“ both senior vice president and portfolio managers.

Their appointment will expand the firm’s capabilities providing differentiated investment solutions within its fixed income business, which currently manages approximately $5 billion on behalf of investors, the firm said in a statement.

Cottier, DeMitry, and Camarella have invested together consistently for over 20 years and were listed as portfolio managers on strategies accounting for over $25 billion in assets. They will report to Alex Petrone, director of fixed income, and support the expansion of Rockefeller Asset Management’s active fixed income investment solutions, including launching new high yield municipal credit investment strategies and vehicles. The addition of Cottier, DeMitry, and Camarella also introduces Rockefeller to the Rochester market, where they will be based.

“We are excited to broaden our existing team’s capabilities with the addition of these three deeply experienced investment professionals with over two decades of experience seeking alpha,” Petrone said.

The appointments of Cottier, DeMitry, and Camarella are the latest in a series over the past two years, including Petrone as well as Jason Kotik, lead portfolio manager for US Small and SMid Cap strategies and Timothy Skiendzielewski, portfolio manager for US Small and SMid Cap strategies.
