Mitsubishi
UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) has appointed Alla Whitston as
chief information officer for the Americas and Matt Abrusci as
general counsel for the Americas.
Whitston is responsible for all IT strategy, infrastructure, architecture, and technology systems for all corporate and business functions within the company. As general counsel, Abrusci is responsible for the overall management of legal affairs and board of directors' administration related to MUFG's combined operations in the Americas, the organization said in a statement yesterday.
Most recently, Whitston served as the chief information officer for Silicon Valley Bank/First-Citizens Bank. Previously, she served as the chief technology officer and executive vice president for CIT Group. She has also held technology leadership positions at Bank of America, JP Morgan Investment Banking/Bear Stearns, and Goldman Sachs & Co.
Abrusci served as the global head of the capital markets law group of the Royal Bank of Canada. Prior to this role, he served as the head of Americas for RBC's Capital Markets Law Group. Earlier in his career, he held a variety of legal leadership positions for Credit Suisse Securities (USA), including as general counsel for the Americas Investment Banking & Capital Markets Law Group, and for Merrill Lynch & Co.

Deloitte, one of the
“Big Four” accounting firms, has appointed Mike Wade as national
sector leader in the US for banking and capital markets. Wade is
succeeding Deron Weston, who will continue to serve as
Deloitte's US financial services industry consulting leader.
Wade, a managing director in the risk and financial advisory practice, Deloitte & Touche LLP, will be responsible for leading the US banking and capital markets practice, which helps organizations develop and implement strategies that address regulatory reform, technological complexity, competitive dynamics and market moves.
With 30 years of experience, Wade has advised financial services firms on corporate governance, wealth management, securities clearing, broker/dealer operations, and regulation implementation.
"Given current market dynamics in the banking and capital markets sector, Mike's significant industry experience, along with his ability to drive strategic initiatives, positions him to lead our practice, respond to changes and help our clients adapt strategic priorities," Monica O'Reilly, vice chair and US financial services industry leader for Deloitte, said.
