The latest senior wealth management moves, appointments and personnel changes in North America.

IEQ Capital
IEQ Capital, an independent wealth management firm and family office overseeing $25.5 billion in regulatory assets under management, has appointed managing director Michael Thompson â€“ part of an expansion in Nashville, Tennessee.

Thompson brings nearly two decades of experience in wealth management, specializing in financial planning and investment advisory services.

IEQ Capital was founded in 2019 as an independent advisory firm.

Avantax
Avantax®, part of Cetera Holdings and a tax-focused financial planning and wealth management business, has welcomed financial advisors John Surace, Kelly Powers and their S&P Financial Services team, based in Hauppauge, New York.

The team, which has transferred to Avantax from Osaic, has about $150 million in client assets under administration, as of June 2024.

Prior to forming S&P Financial Services, Surace’s experience included being an executive with a global financial services firm where he supervised a location with more than 300 advisors. Powers has managed money for clients for 30 years, while having other roles such as vice president, sourcing, hiring and training new financial advisors.

In May this year, Avantax bought the wealth management arm of Integrated Tax & Wealth Strategies, an independent wealth management business. Collectively, Avantax had $92.8 billion in total client assets (as of December 31, 2023).
