United Capital Makes Two Acquisitions, Adding $370 Million

Bedrock Capital Management in California and Harvest Group Financial Services in Pennsylvania have joined the United Capital partnership.

United Capital Financial Advisers, which describes itself as a financial life management firm, has added around $370 million in assets under management to its platform with two acquisitions.

First, United Capital has acquired the assets of Bedrock Capital Management, located in Los Altos, CA. The company was renamed United Capital of the Silicon Valley, and the firm’s primary principal, Joel Shaps, has joined as a managing director along with principals Eric Lewis and Tony Blagrove.

Shaps acquired Bedrock Capital Management while he was a client of the firm in March of 2001.

Across the country in Pennsylvania, United Capital has also acquired Harvest Group Financial Services, which was founded in 1994 by Rosemary Caligiuri. Like Shaps, Caligiuri also worked in a different field before entering financial services.

From 1981 through 1994, Caligiuri was a registered nurse and founded Harvest Group in 1994. The firm has eight employees in roles including planning, portfolio management and operations.

United Capital is structured as a national partnership of private wealth counseling offices. Click here for an interview with the firm in late 2014.
