Perella Weinberg Partners, an investment bank and asset management firm set up last year by legendary Wall Street banker Joseph Perella, is understood to be in the early stages of setting up a multi-family office.

Reports in the US trade press suggest the New York City-based firm is likely to target clients among some of the wealthiest financiers in the US and in the City of London.

Mr Perella built his reputation as one of Wall Street’s top acquisitions specialists – first at First Boston (later Credit Suisse First Boston), then at the firm he set up with Bruce Wasserstein, Wasserstein Perella & Co, and then later at Morgan Stanley.
