US Brokerage To Host Forum On Wealth Management For Same-Sex Couples

Same-sex couples have unique wealth management needs that call for special expertise on estate planning, taxation and the legislation surrounding partnership recognition, and so GoldFinger is pleased to see a large US firm doing its bit to address these issues.

Morgan Stanley Smith Barney has announced that it is hosting an event that will bring together professionals in estate planning and legal relationship recognition to discuss wealth planning for same-sex couples.

The “Wealth Planning for Same-Sex Couples” event, which is being held in honour of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Pride month, takes place in Beverly Hills, California, on the 24 June.

The event will focus on the importance of both finance and estate planning for LGBT couples, and how to prepare for situations like retirement and wealth transfer.  The differences in relationship recognition such as domestic partnerships and civil unions, along with issues arising from recent court decisions made in California will also be discussed.

Speakers at the event include: Merryll McElwain, a Morgan Stanley Smith Barney financial advisor; Jonathan Wershow, an attorney with law firm Wershow & Cole, and David Codell, attorney with the Law Office of David C Codell.

Those interested in attending the event should RSVP to Leslie Quintanilla at (310) 285-4885 or Sassan Sassani at (310) 285-4825.
