UK-Based Cass Business School Responds To RDR With Masters Degree

Cass Business School, part of City University London, has launched a part-time Masters degree in wealth management to start this September, in wake of the retail distribution review.

Both the CII and CISI have reported greater demand for higher wealth management qualifications, partly due to the RDR triggering the need for financial advisors to have relevant accredited qualifications.

The course is therefore aimed for students holding the CII Advanced Diploma in financial planning or the CISI Masters programme in wealth management, and has been designed as a fast-track way of enhancing credentials.

It aims to expand participants’ financial knowledge as well as develop their leadership and relationship management skills.

The launch of the course is also a sign of how education courses specifically aimed at wealth management are developing. To view a WealthBriefing roundup of courses around the world, click here.

Commenting on the course content, Ruth Martin, managing director of the CISI, said: “The CISI is delighted that holders of the CISI’s highest level wealth management qualification, which is also the highest level programme recognised by the UK regulator for RDR purposes, provides 60 credits, in other words one third of the total required towards the programme.”

The course can be completed in a year or 15 months, and will take place at Cass’ premises in the City of London.

It compliments the business school’s Retail Distribution Review and Wealth Management research programmes, giving participants immediate access to research and expertise directly relevant to their industry and careers, the school said.
