UBS Wealth Management Americas continues to grow its client-facing presence in the US by bringing in advisor duo Jonathan Mitchell and Nick Abdy in Arizona.

Mitchell and Abdy are now part of the Tuscon, Arizona office and report directly to Charlie Cajero, the branch manager. They moved from Wells Fargo and have a T-12 production background of $1.8 million and assets under management of $308 million. 

The appointments follow a string of similar ones made in other parts of the US by the Swiss firm, including a trio from Merrill Lynch for its Framlington Hills branch in Michigan and a $110 million-AuM advisor in Chicago. 

UBS said in early August that it is planning to cut 3,500 jobs from its global operations, 45 per cent of which will be from wealth management. The company noted there will be only a 5 to 10 per cent manpower reduction in the Americas unit. (See related story here.)
