Eugen Haltiner has been appointed as the new chairman of the Swiss Federal Banking Commission. Mr Haltinger was previously vice-chairman of business banking at UBS in Zurich. He replaces Kurt Hauri, who is leaving for unspecified reasons. Mr Haltiner will take up the position in February 2006.

The commission’s other board members are Jean-Baptiste Zufferey, who is vice-chairman, Rene Kastli, Christoph Ammann, Luc Thevenoz, Anne Heritier Lachat and Charles Pictet.
