Trio Of Hires At Morgan Stanley In New Jersey, Connecticut

Morgan Stanley has made three hires in the Northwest, who have a combined total of $1.275 billion in prior assets.

Leaving Merrill Lynch to join Morgan Stanley’s office in Northfield, NJ, is a team comprised of Michael Torpey and Charles Malamut, a spokesperson told this publication.

Torpey previously served as a senior financial advisor at Merrill Lynch and becomes an associate vice president at Morgan Stanley. Prior to his transition, Malamut was a senior vice president and financial advisor at Merrill Lynch.

The team had a production of $3.477 million and prior assets of $1.1 billion. According to Reuters, the team joined just before the Labor Day weekend and are set to report to southern New Jersey complex manager, Chris Shaw.

Also joining Morgan Stanley is Jon Garofalo, who arrived at its Westport, CT office on August 29. Garofalo is latterly of JP Morgan Chase, where he held the post of vice president, private client advisor.

Prior to leaving JP Morgan Chase, Garofalo had a production of $1.5 million and prior assets of $175 million. He reports to Patrick Tiani, branch manager in Westport.

A week before Garofalo’s appointment, two financial advisors, Alison Scavone and William Bates, left Morgan Stanley’s Westport office to join Wells Fargo advisors. Moving with the pair were senior registered client associate Summer Gigliotti and client associate Jennifer Blair.
