Switzerland Boasts Highest Wealth Per Capita, US Takes Third Place – Data

Of the world's wealthiest 20 countries, the average person in Switzerland is the most well-off, according to New World Wealth.
Switzerland topped a recent ranking of countries by average wealth per person, with a per capita wealth of $285,100.
The Alpine State was followed by Australia, where wealth per capita stands at $204,400, according to the report by New World Wealth. The US and the UK come next, with a respective wealth per capita of $150,600 and $147,600.
At the bottom of the list is India, with $2,800, but this is more than triple its wealth per capita back in 2000, which was just $900. Its total individual wealth of $3.49 trillion, which makes it the 10th wealthiest country in the world, is notably down to the sheer size of its population.
In other findings, the UK ranks ahead of Sweden and Germany when it comes to average wealth per person, largely thanks to the high value of real estate in the UK. New World Wealth also highlighted that in Germany, many people do not own their homes and rent instead, which brings down their total net assets.
Other countries that have delivered impressive wealth growth over the past 15 years include Indonesia, where it has soared 362 per cent to a wealth per capita of $6,000. China was close behind with growth of 341 per cent to $12,800 per person.
New World Wealth's research is based on its in-house database of high net worth individuals, which comprises dossiers on over 150,000 HNWIs from around the world.
