Switzerland Attacks Anti-Romney Campaign Ad That Scolds Alpine State

Switzerland has objected to a US presidential election campaign video attacking Republican candidate Mitt Romney by portraying the Alpine state as a tax haven, media reports said.
In the video, a character named Miss Swiss Bank Account describes Romney as a "boss millionaire with accounts everywhere", the ATS news agency reported.
The film gives "the impression that having a bank account in Switzerland is dubious in itself and its only aim is to hide money from the tax authorities," Switzerland's Federal Department for Foreign Affairs (DFAE) is quoted as having said.
Switzerland's Washington embassy reportedly expressed its unhappiness at the clip to the Obama team, ATS said.
Romney’s alleged offshore bank accounts have been used by his Democrat opponents to attack the former Bain Capital senior executive at a time when the use of Swiss bank accounts by wealthy Americans has become a hotly controversial issue. A number of Swiss banks no longer provide US citizens with offshore banking. The US, along with a number of other nations, has sought to crack down on Switzerland. The issue is not straightforward: the US itself arguably has a significant tax haven in the form of the state of Delaware.
In the video segment, entitled "Romney Girl", the singing protagonist hails the Romney approach of "tax shelters everywhere", while a list of countries appear on screen showing Romney with bank accounts in Switzerland, Luxembourg, the Cayman Islands and Ireland.
