Switzerland's Vontobel Names Americas Private Clients Head

The new senior hire has a solid track record of serving US and Latin American clients.

Billy Obregon (pictured) has been appointed as head of private clients Americas and CEO of Vontobel Swiss Financial Advisers (SFA), starting in March.

Obregon, who will be based in New York, brings over 20 years of experience in the financial industry and a track record in wealth management and advisory services. Prior to joining Vontobel SFA, Obregon worked at Deutsche Bank, where he was responsible for covering US and Latin American clients.

His expertise and vision will be instrumental in driving Vontobel SFA's growth and strengthening its position in the wealth management sector across the Americas, the firm said in a statement.

After the successful integration of SFA, Peter Romanzina, former CEO of Vontobel SFA, will join the board of directors, subject to regulatory approval, the firm added.

Vontobel’s wealth management business has teams in New York, Miami, Geneva and its headquarters in Zurich that serve private clients globally. In 2022, Vontobel acquired UBS’s Swiss Financial Advisers business and formed Vontobel SFA, creating the largest Swiss-domiciled wealth manager for US clients seeking an account in Switzerland for diversification purposes.
