The latest roundup of moves and appointments in North America's wealth sector.

Raymond James welcomed Michael Mauseth to Raymond James Financial Services (RJFS) – the firm’s independent advisor channel. Mauseth joined the established team at Bell Wealth Advisors in its Juneau, Alaska office. Mauseth was previously affiliated with Wells Fargo where he managed approximately $100 million in client assets.

Raymond James welcomed financial advisor Howard Kaplan to its independent advisor channel. Kaplan joined the team at Riegel Financial. The firm, which has been established for 50 years, operates from offices in Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio. Before this move, Kaplan was affiliated with Stifel, where he managed about $200 million in client assets.

The firm also welcomed financial advisors Steve Doucette and Collin Habig to the firm’s independent advisor channel. They are based in Plainville, Massachusetts. At Doucette Capital, the advisors are joined by registered sales assistant, Louise Boissel. Together they provide personalized and comprehensive financial planning to a variety of clients, specializing in those in or near retirement. 

UBS Wealth Management USA has appointed financial advisor and managing director Garth Allan in Newport Beach, California. He was joined by senior registered client service associate Catherine Rusk. Previously, he was at Wells Fargo where he served as a financial advisor in Orange County for more than 11 years. Before that, he was a financial advisor with Edward Jones for four years. 

CrĂ©dit Agricole CIB, the French group, appointed three senior regional officers for Asia-Pacific, the Americas, the Middle East and Africa. Among them was StĂ©phane Ducroizet, who took on the Americas post. He is based in New York. Ducroizet replaced Marc-AndrĂ© Poirier, who became chief executive of CrĂ©dit Agricole Indosuez Switzerland.

Cyndeo Wealth Partners – a business focused on NFL players – appointed former Merrill Lynch advisors Richard Thomas Havard and Michael Scott Crouch as vice presidents. They were joined by Arlene Alexander, senior client relationship manager. They operate remotely and report to Cyndeo’s headquarters in St Petersburg, Florida. Previously, Havard and Crouch were senior financial advisors at Merrill Lynch, managing about $250 million in client assets.

Next Capital Management appointed Frazer Rice as director of family office services. Rice is responsible for developing and implementing the firm’s family office services offering, which covers topics such as estate planning, intergenerational wealth transfer, and business transaction planning. Rice was previously the Northeast regional director for Pendleton Square Trust Company where he was responsible for building Pendleton’s Northeast presence and advising clients and their financial advisors on fiduciary issues. 

Banco Santander appointed one of its senior figures, Felipe GarcĂ­a Ascencio, as chief executive of the bank’s Mexico business. He also became group country head for the country. GarcĂ­a Ascencio replaced HĂ©ctor Grisi, who took over from JosĂ© Antonio Álvarez as Banco Santander CEO. Previously, Garcia Ascencio, who joined Santander in 2020, was senior executive vice-president of Santander MĂ©xico.

Silicon Valley Bank Financial Group appointed Erin Platts as president of SVB Private and David Sabow as CEO of Silicon Valley Bank UK and head of EMEA, pending UK regulatory approval. 

Platts has been with SVB for more than 18 years, serving as head of commercial banking, UK and Europe for six years and most recently as head of EMEA and CEO of Silicon Valley Bank UK.

Janus Henderson appointed Michelle Dunstan as chief responsibility officer. She is based in the US and reports to Ali Dibadj, Janus Henderson’s CEO. Previously, she worked for 18 years in various roles at AllianceBernstein.

Global law firm Dechert announced the appointments of new co-chairs. From July 1, 2023, partners David W Forti and Mark E Thierfelder will take up the roles and partners Sabina Comis and Vincent H Cohen, Jr will become the firm’s first global managing partners. 

The new leadership succeeds Andy J Levander, the firm’s chair since 2011, and Henry N Nassau, the firm’s CEO since 2016, when their leadership terms end on June 30, 2023.

Coastal One a broker-dealer and Registered Investment Advisor hybrid platform based in Wilmington, Delaware, said that its company executives have been put in industry leadership positions. They include Michael O’Connor, chief financial officer of CoastalOne, who was invited to join the Financial Service Institute’s 2023 Accounting & Finance Council. Amanda Teeple, senior vice president of CoastalOne Capital Markets, joined The Alternative & Direct Investment Securities Association’s 2023 board of directors.
