Summary Of Executive Moves In Global Wealth Management – November 2021

A number of senior figures moved and and were appointed. Among the most eye-catching changes was the resignation of Barclays CEO Jes Staley.
The biggest move of November was arguably that of Jes Staley, who stepped down as chief executive of the UK banking group Barclays amid pressure from regulators about how he described his relationship with convicted sex offender and financier Jeffrey Epstein. The UK’s Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority – the two principal watchdogs in the UK – told Barclays and Staley of their preliminary conclusions from their investigation into the matter.
Amaury Dauge resigned as group chief financial officer to take up an external opportunity in an early-stage venue unconnected to financial services. He was named as the CFO a year ago. Prior to this, he worked at Qontigo, the intelligence technology firm, where he recently served as CFO and chief operating officer.
Asset management house First Sentier Investors named David Allen as its new global investment management head, taking the reins from Perry Clausen, who was retiring from the role. Allen has more than 20 years of global asset management experience, having specialised in building investment businesses and leading investment teams. Prior to this role, Allen spent five years at AMP Capital, most recently as global CIO, equities, based in London.
Guernsey Finance came back in London with a permanent residence, naming Jo Kitcat as UK representative. Most recently, Kitcat was a managing director at BNY Mellon in London.
Boston Multi Family Office promoted Siôn Roberts to the role of director of its Isle of Man office, Boston Limited. Previously head of accounting and tax, Roberts is experienced in the trust and corporate industry, having worked in the sector since 2008, after originally moving to the island with an international bank in 2004.
Schroders Capital appointed Rob Prescott as asset manager for its property team in Manchester, UK. Prescott, who previously worked at real estate consultancy OBI Property, has more than 10 years of experience working in the north west and wider regional commercial property market. He reports to fund manager Phil Scott.
Peter Maurer, president of the International Committee of the Red Cross since 2012, was slated to take over as president of the board of the Basel Institute on Governance when he steps down as ICRC president in September 2022. He will succeed the Basel Institute’s founder and president, professor Mark Pieth. The institute focuses on fighting corruption around the world as well as developing ways of improving standards of governance.
Deutsche Bank named Dan Ingvarson as the new head of the international private bank for the Nordics and as a branch manager for its Stockholm office. All international private banking relationship managers with Nordic business in the Nordic countries, Luxembourg and Switzerland report to Ingvarson. He reports to Michael Morley, chief executive of Deutsche Bank UK Bank Ltd and head of the UK and Nordics region for the international private bank.
Prior to this, from 2015, Ingvarson worked as a senior RM covering Nordic clients at Credit Suisse. Before that, he was with Klarna, a Swedish fintech, for two years where he worked in varying capacities including head of strategic accounts and deputy head of enterprise sales for the Germany, Austria and Switzerland region. Before that, he spent six years at Morgan Stanley in London. After a period of transition Pontus Gronlund, head of IPB Nordics, moved to a new role outside Deutsche Bank. Gronlund worked for Deutsche in the Nordics for the past 21 years.
HSBC made a number of hires and appointments in its investment management team in Geneva. Karl Faivre appointed as head of investments and wealth solutions (IWS) EMEA (excluding UK), and head of IWS Switzerland. He oversaw the products and investment teams in Switzerland for the past three years. In his expanded role, Faivre is responsible for the full range of wealth products, platforms and propositions for personal, premier and private banking clients in EMEA.
In parallel, HSBC Switzerland appointed Alexander Neil as head of equity advisory to strengthen its stock picking capabilities. Neil, who has worked for HSBC since 2018, brings more than 16 years of equities experience to the new role, including time spent at EFG Bank and several years on the sell side in London and Paris.
The bank also recruited Cristiano Mendes as a structured products specialist to join its team in Switzerland. Mendes spent the past eight years in investment management roles at UBS, Lombard Odier and Barclays Wealth Management.
Bank Syz, the Geneva-based group, appointed Dominik Staffelbach as head of Switzerland to lead its domestic expansion strategy. Staffelbach, based in Zurich, joined the bank with more than two decades of private banking experience in Switzerland and around the world. He previously worked at the private bank Rahn+Bodmer, where he was responsible for entrepreneurs. Prior to this, Staffelbach spent more than 15 years at UBS. Reporting into Nicolas Syz, head of private banking, Staffelbach is responsible for developing and implementing Syz’s strategy for the Swiss market by leveraging its wide range of difficult-to-access wealth management services and alternative investments.
Professional services firm JTC named Dean Blackburn as its chief commercial officer. He was invited to join the group holdings board in recognition of his central role in the firm’s growth since he joined at the start of 2019.
Brown Shipley appointed Kenny Cummings as a financial planner, based in Edinburgh. Cummings reports to Matt Hoyne, head of the Edinburgh office and works with Rebecca Williams, head of wealth planning in the UK. Cummings, who has served as a financial advisor since 2017, joined Brown Shipley from Spence & Spence IFA, serving high net worth individuals.
VG, the Jersey-based provider of trust, corporate and fund administration solutions, appointed Kevin Cooper as director of operations. With a career spanning 30 years, Cooper has worked in various financial businesses. Previously he spent 11 years at Nautilus Trust Company and later its 2016 acquirer, First Names Group. His experience also includes several senior roles in the Jersey office of Bankers Trust Company of New York.
Legal & General Investment Management named Kurt Morriesen as head of investment stewardship. Morriesen leads LGIM’s global investment stewardship team. He worked at the United Nations Development Programme as a senior advisor for impact investments and social development goals, a position he held since 2018.
Newton Investment Management appointed Therese Niklasson as global head of sustainable investment. Niklasson reports directly in London to CEO Euan Munro. Most recently she was global head of sustainability at Ninety One (previously Investec Asset Management); and before that global head of ESG and head of ESG research at the firm.
Goldman Sachs hired 10 private-wealth advisors in London. During 2021 it also transferred or promoted an additional seven people into PWA roles and it now has 50 advisors serving UK clients.
The external hires: Fiona Macleod; Dmitra Koutsoukos; Heidi Tyler; Sandeep Bhamra; James Westropp; Selina-Valencia McDonald; Pedro Dias Ferreira; Manuela Maia; Clement Hutton-Mills; and Alison Bishop. In continental Europe, two senior figures - Cedric Deleamont and Jerome Lauber – were hired by Goldman Sachs as private bankers in Geneva. They previously worked at UBS.
Goldman Sachs Asset Management appointed Ed Francis as a managing director to lead its UK fiduciary management business, based in London. Francis joined from Willis Towers Watson, where he spent 20 years in a variety of roles including six years as the head of investment for Europe, Middle East and North Africa.
BNY Mellon Investment Management named Matt Shafer as head of European distribution. Shafer oversees the US firm’s UK and continental European businesses and works with its investment firms. He reports to Matt Oomen, global head of distribution at BNY Mellon Investment Management, in this newly-created role.
ABN AMRO said Jurgen Stegmann decided to resign from its supervisory board after being in the post since June 2016. Among other roles, Stegmann is supervisory board chairman of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, and supervisory board member, audit committee and change committee at MN Services NV.
C Hoare & Co appointed India Gary-Martin as a non-executive director. Gary-Martin, who has 25 years’ experience in financial services, served in a variety of executive roles in London, Frankfurt, Tokyo and Hong Kong. Her most recent executive appointment was at JP Morgan where, from 2010 to 2014, she was managing director and global chief operating officer for investment banking technology and operations. Gary-Martin also worked in senior roles at RBS (now NatWest) and Deutsche Bank.
Titanbay, the private markets investment platform for sophisticated investors, private banks and asset managers, appointed Trevor Isherwood in the newly-created role of global head of marketing. Isherwood joined from Fidelity International where he was marketing director for global digital wealth and head of UK digital and content marketing. He previously worked for UBS Wealth Management.
CryptoUK, which speaks for the UK crypto industry, appointed Rob McWilliam as its new non-executive director. McWilliam served as finance director and vice president of Amazon UK and most recently as chief financial officer of Asda Walmart.
Global law firm DLA Piper launched a worldwide investment management and funds practice, covering the whole sector’s value chain. The practice is led by international partners Catherine Pogorzelski and James O'Donnell and US partners Jesse Criz and David Parrish.
UK fund manager Jupiter named Matthew Beesley as its new chief investment officer. He replaced Stephen Pearson, who retired after a 35-year career in the industry, including nearly two decades at Jupiter.
Investor services firm IQ-EQ appointed Joanna Macleod as its new group chief operating officer. She is based in London. A chartered accountant, Macleod worked at a number of global service organisations for over 20 years, including six years at American Express’ global business travel division, latterly as its chief transformation officer.
Appway appointed veteran tech entrepreneur Mark Holenstein as chief operating officer. Holenstein built two enterprise software start-ups: Signavio, a SaaS business process management provider, and e-commerce software vendor Hybris. Both were acquired by German software giant SAP.
Kingsley Napley appointed Matt Spencer as a partner to help build a new tax practice. Spencer was previously at DAC Beachcroft where he spent nine years advising on structuring corporate and real estate transactions including M&A, land transfers, developments and leases. His specialist area is employment tax and structuring employee incentive schemes as well as public and private sector VAT.
Carsten Cramer was named as managing director of PraxisIFM in the Netherlands. He joined from financial services group Higgs & Co, which provides directors and corporate services to multinationals, private equity firms, funds and family offices in the Netherlands and Luxembourg. He has also served in senior roles in financial services in the US.
BNP Paribas Asset Management named a number of managers within its “sustainability centre” to help bolster its investment offerings for environmental, social and governance-themed (ESG) work. Rachel Crossley was appointed head of stewardship for Europe, based in London. Crossley has more than 25 years of sustainability and stewardship expertise working with organisations such as the Access to Nutrition Initiative and the Climate Group. She reports to Michael Herskovich, global head of stewardship.
Malika Takhtayeva was appointed sustainable fixed Income lead – EMEA, based in London. She spent the last six years at Moody’s Investors Service as a credit analyst with a focus on ESG and related topics.
Thibaud Clisson was appointed climate change lead, based in Paris. He joined BNPP AM in 2009 and has been senior ESG analyst responsible for the utilities, materials and energy sectors, as well as developing the firm's approach to measuring carbon risk and integrating ESG considerations within private markets. He reports to Bernhardt.
Robert-Alexandre Poujade was appointed biodiversity lead, based in Paris. He joined BNPP AM in 2011 and has been an ESG analyst since 2015. Delphine Riou was appointed inclusive growth lead, based in Paris. She joined BNPP AM as an ESG analyst in 2017.
VP Bank appointed Dr Lars Kaiser as head of group sustainability. He reports to chief investment officer and chairman of the Sustainability Board at VP Bank, Dr Felix Brill. Kaiser was formerly assistant professor of banking and financial management at the University of Liechtenstein’s Institute for Finance.
Citi Private Bank named Jeremy Knowland, James Holder and Selim Elgen as the new cluster heads for the UK, Jersey and Israel, Europe and Emerging Markets (including the Middle East), respectively. The three individuals report to Luigi Pigorini, head of Citi Private Bank and Citi Global Wealth, EMEA, and Ida Liu, global head of the private bank. Additionally, they “matrix report” individually to James Bardrick, Kristine Braden and Ebru Pakcan, the Citi EMEA cluster heads for UK, Jersey and Israel, Europe and Emerging Markets. As part of the change, Bardrick relocated to Luxembourg and Knowland and Elgen remained based in the UK.
Robeco appointed Colin Graham as head of multi-asset strategies and co-head of sustainable multi-asset solutions. Graham has a track record of investment performance, team leadership and innovation in global, European and Asian multi-asset solutions that spans more than 25 years. Most recently he was chief investment officer, multi-asset solutions at Eastspring Investments (part of Prudential plc).
BMO Global Asset Management added investment product specialists to its European team. Karlijn Van Lierop was named the “responsible investment” product specialist for the Netherlands. Based in Amsterdam, she joined from MN where she had headed the responsible investment team since 2012.
Isabelle Meyer also joined the business, focusing on the German market. She came from Insight Investment Management where she had worked since 2012. Both report to Claudia Wearmouth, co-head of BMO GAM’s responsible investment team.
The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment elected Amyr Rocha Lima CFPTM Chartered FCSI and Peter Moores, Chartered FCSI to join its board of directors.
Kleinwort Hambros appointed Unni Chowallur as director, private banking in the “Key Client and International” segment and to join the firm’s ultra-high net worth team working with Middle Eastern clients.
Chowallur, who is based in London and focuses on the UK resident non-domestic and non-resident Indian market and similar segment activity in the UAE, reports to head of key clients and international private banking, Rob Woodthorpe-Browne. Chowallur has spent two decades in private banking and asset management in the UK, Europe and India. He was most recently executive director at Standard Chartered private bank and before that a director with UBS AG.
Mark Sheerin was appointed senior private banker, based in Yorkshire. He has joined from HSBC private bank, where he spent four years advising onshore domestic clients on their portfolios. He reports to Yorkshire head of office Richard Brown. Previously, he spent nine years with Seven Investment Management as a client advisor in London.
The third hire, Laythamm Malorey was appointed business development manager in the Channel Islands, reporting to head of private banking for Channel Islands, Thomas Cummins. Malorey has spent more than 35 years in finance working for RBS, Barclays, and more recently at boutique investment houses.
Former Schroders chief investment officer Kieron Launder joined the advisory board of private equity firm Growthdeck to advise on the continued growth of its investor network. Launder previously headed investment strategy for Rothschild and spent 25 years in the industry, including 15 years at Citibank.
International law firm Reed Smith added two corporate trust lawyers, Paulette Mastin and Paul Regan to its Financial Industry Group team in London. Former Linklaters counsel, Mastin joined as a partner, and Regan as a counsel to work with the firm's global corporate trustees, service providers, and financial intermediaries.
Following a number of recent acquisitions, Waverton Group appointed Marco Malagoni to head wealth planning in London. He spent more than a decade at Cazenove Capital.
Asia-Pacific
Deutsche Bank Wealth Management named Felicia Tan as director,
team leader and Edmund Tee as vice president and Dita Darmawan as
director.
Based in Singapore, Tan and Tee report to Urs Brudermann; and Darmawan reports to Ingrid Widjaya. Both Brudermann and Widjaya are group heads of Southeast Asia and report to Shang-Wei Chow, Southeast Asia head.
With 13 years of private banking experience, Tan joined from BNP Paribas Wealth Management where she was director, team head. Prior to that, she spent more than a decade at Credit Suisse, progressing from relationship manager to director.
Darmawan joined from UBS where she was a director. Prior to UBS, she held the same title at Standard Chartered and was a vice president at Barclays Bank.
Tee, who has 17 years of experience in the banking and finance industry, was previously at BNP Paribas Wealth Management where he was a vice president, serving HNW individuals and corporations. Prior to joining BNP Paribas Wealth Management, Tee worked at CIMB Private Banking and Credit Suisse.
Indosuez Wealth Management in Asia, the global wealth management brand of France’s Crédit Agricole group, appointed senior relationship manager, Arthur Cheng as executive director in the Singapore Branch. Cheng reports to Alfred Low, head of North Asia markets and strategic partnerships at the bank’s Singapore branch.
With almost 25 years’ experience in the banking sector, Cheng spent the last 16 years working in senior level roles in private banking. Prior to his appointment with Indosuez, he served in senior wealth management roles at DBS Bank Private Bank and BNP Paribas Private Bank in Hong Kong SAR as well as UBS Taiwan.
Standard Chartered appointed Brendan Royal to the technology role of global chief architect, joining from Amazon Web Services in Australia after a four-year stint.
Singapore-based GIC, the sovereign wealth fund, appointed former Credit Suisse senior figure Lawrence Beck as a director in its technology group. Beck worked for the Swiss bank in Hong Kong for 11 years. In his latest role there, he was a managing director and head of investment banking technology for Asia-Pacific. Before that, he worked at Morgan Stanley.
Credit Suisse announced a series of changes to its top-level management for its Asia-Pacific business, including the retirement of Francois Monnet, who had been head of private banking for North Asia and chief executive for the firm’s Hong Kong branch.
Benjamin Cavalli was appointed head of wealth management Asia-Pacific; Jinyee Young was named deputy head of wealth management Asia-Pacific, and Chien Chien Wong was appointed CEO for Credit Suisse in Singapore – the bank’s first female CEO in Singaporr, in addition to her role as the chief operating officer, Asia-Pacific.
Greg Hingston was appointed to lead HSBC's Life and Insurance business. The banking veteran, who is heading the franchise as global CEO, succeeded Bryce Johns, who left to pursue an outside opportunity. Hingston spent 15 years at HSBC in a number of executive roles in Asia and Europe. He was regional lead in retail banking for EMEA; and also led customer value management and international retail banking and wealth management for Europe. Earlier in his career, Hingston spent five years heading business development, planning and M&A at Prudential in Asia.
Maitri Asset Management, a Singapore-based, active responsible investment manager and multi-family office, added two executives to its client relationship and investment advisory teams. Varun Gulati, a private banking industry veteran, joined as a relationship management director to help drive Maitri’s client relationship strategy and partnerships.
Edwin Aw joined as an investment counsellor focusing on formulating and managing bespoke multi-asset investment solutions for clients. Both appointees are based in Singapore.
Gulati previously worked in the private banking division of Deutsche Bank. Before that, he worked in wealth management across leading international banks and financial institutions, including ABN Amro, HSBC and Standard Chartered. Aw, who joined from HSBC, is a private banking investment specialist. His career to date spans stints at numerous leading financial institutions including Schroders, ING and Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
Credit Suisse appointed Sacha Eugster as market leader for the Philippines based in Singapore. He still reports to market group head Marcus Slöör, Private Banking Philippines. Eugster, who has spent two decades in wealth management, joined Credit Suisse in 2003. After 11 years, he became head of the Swiss bank’s Singapore booking centre, moving in 2016 to become team leader for the Philippines market, managing the Singapore-based team.
Global asset manager Ninety One appointed Nazmeera Moola as chief sustainability officer. Moola, who was previously Ninety One’s deputy managing director and head of South African Investments, joined the group in 2013 from Macquarie First South, where she was head of macroeconomic strategy.
A former Deutsche Bank senior figure, Anurag Mahesh, rejoined the bank at its wealth management arm to take the post of vice chairman, Asia-Pacific. Mahesh, who is based in Singapore, reports to Lok Yim, head of the international private bank for APAC and chief executive of the Hong Kong branch. In global reporting terms, he reports to Alessandro Caironi, global head of lending and advisory and sales. He joined from UBS, where he was co-head of global family office for Asia Pacific.
Allfunds, the funds platform organisation, appointed Sebastien Chaker as head of its Hong Kong business. Chaker most recently served as an executive board member for Clearstream Fund Centre AG (Zurich). He has also served in senior roles at UBS and Calastone. Chaker reports to David Perez de Albéniz, head of Asia at Allfunds, who is based in Singapore.
Leo Wealth, the international wealth firm borne out of a recent merger, named Jason Gibbons as investment director for Asia. Based in Hong Kong, Gibbons joined the firm’s global investment team and reports to Harmen Overdijk, global chief investment officer. Gibbons previously worked at BNY Mellon Wealth Management, where he spent 11 years as client portfolio manager, working with private clients and high net worth families.
Arc & Co, the specialist debt advisory firm, named Sophie Brown, a chartered accountant, as representative for Southeast Asia. Based in Singapore, she provides debt advisory services with a focus on real estate.
Eastspring Investments created a new regional management structure, naming Xavier Meyer and Wendy Lim in the newly-created roles of regional CEOs. They report to Wai-Kwong Seck, CEO at Eastspring Investments.
Meyer, who joined Eastspring in 2014 and is global head of distribution, took on new management responsibilities.He oversees the Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Europe and US businesses as regional CEO for North Asia, Europe and the US. Lim assumed management responsibilities to oversee Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam as regional CEO for Southeast Asia.
Law firm Stephenson Harwood appointed Wei Kang as a partner in its Hong Kong office. Kang, who joined the firm from DLA Piper, advises clients on international estate and asset protection planning, the Canadian tax and corporate aspects of private wealth structures, and the development of family governance structures. She has experience in a variety of cross-border deals, including the mergers and acquisitions of private corporations, corporate reorganisations and trust planning transactions. Kang has .
Canada-listed Sun Life Financial appointed Luc Nhon Ly as chief executive of Sun Life Vietnam, following the return of former Vietnam CEO Larry Madge to Sun Life's corporate office in Toronto. Luc Nhon Ly brings more than 26 years of expertise to the role, in a career spanning executive, finance, strategy, and actuarial roles across Vietnam, Myanmar and Canada.
Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, aka KKR, appointed K V Kamath as a senior advisor to KKR India. Kamath has more than five decades of experience of building and leading large Indian businesses. Most recently, from its founding in 2015 until 2020, Kamath has served as the first president of the multilateral development bank, New Development Bank. Prior to that, he was chairman of ICICI Bank and Infosys, two of India’s largest companies.
Barclays Private Bank made three senior appointments in its Singapore office: Adrian Khoo was named head of strategic client coverage, Barclays Private Bank, Singapore. Khoo, who has more than 16 years’ experience in the financial services industry, joined from Julius Baer, where he was a senior relationship manager for Southeast Asia covering ultra-high net worth and family office clients. Prior to this, he served in senior roles at BNP Paribas Wealth Management, Asia Capital & Advisors, Goldman Sachs and Macquarie Bank.
Jaime Huang was appointed private banker, Barclays Private Bank, Singapore. Prior to joining Barclays, Huang worked at the Bank of Singapore and spent the last four years as a director responsible for advising UHNW and family office clients in Southeast Asia and China. He has more than 18 years of private banking and investment advisory experience and has previously worked at Citigroup, HSBC and ABN AMRO.
Ken Sze was appointed head of investments for Asia, Barclays Private Bank, Singapore. Sze relocated from London, where, for the past three years, he was a senior member of Barclays Private Bank Global Investments team as global head of the funds and ETFs business.
Allianz appointed Anusha Thavarajah as regional chief executive of Allianz Asia Pacific, succeeding Solmaz Altin, who decided to leave after 13 years with the organisation. Thavarajah, who is Allianz Asia Pacific’s regional CEO of Life and Health, joined the business in December 2019 from AIA Malaysia.
Manulife Investment Management appointed Isaac Meng as managing director and portfolio manager, fixed income, and Judy Kwok, head of Greater China fixed income research, to join its Asia fixed income team. Meng reports to Paula Chan, senior managing director and senior portfolio manager, Asia fixed income. Meng was previously at PIMCO Asia as senior vice president, portfolio manager and macro strategist.
Kwok is responsible for leading the firm’s Greater China fixed income research efforts, Kwok reports to Fiona Cheung, head of global emerging markets fixed income research. She was previously at Bank of Singapore as director of fixed income research, and before that she served in senior research positions at Fidelity International and First State Investments in Hong Kong.
HSBC Asset Management named Daisy Ho as its new regional chief executive for Asia-Pacific and Hong Kong. Ho replaced Pedro Bastos who moved to a newly-created role as chief investment officer for international markets and Asia strategist. Ho, who reports to CEO Nicolas Moreau, has more than 20 years’ experience in the asset management industry, and joined from Fidelity International.
BBVA, the Spain-based banking and financial group, announced that it is setting up an equity trading and sales hub in Hong Kong. The group appointed Stephen Sun as head of sales, global equities Asia. He joined BBVA from DBS Private Bank, where he was an investment consultant. Prior to that, Sun worked in sales at Barclays, Deutsche Bank and JP Morgan.
Carey Olsen added to its dispute resolution and litigation offering in Hong Kong by appointing senior associate Kimberley Leng.
Julius Baer appointed Kevin Tay as head of wealth planning and family office services, Singapore. The move represented a return to the Swiss bank for Tay, who had worked there for more than a decade. He reports to Eleanor Yuen, head of wealth planning and investment finance for Asia-Pacific, and Jason Moo, head of private banking, Southeast Asia and branch manager, Singapore, for family office services.
Prior to this, Tay was senior partner, Asia head at Sequent Group. Before that, he was with Julius Baer for almost 14 years, most recently as head of wealth planning and investment finance for Southeast Asia.
Citi Private Bank appointed Chia Pei Jet as managing director and investment counsellor team lead for the Singapore and Malaysia ultra-high net worth business. Based in Singapore, Chia Pei Jet, who is a CFA Charterholder, is partnering with Citi Private Bank chairman and South Asia head Lee Lung-Nien to help expand the bank’s UHNW footprint in Singapore and Malaysia. Chia Pei Jet joined from JP Morgan Private Bank, where she served as global investment specialist and team lead for the Indonesia market for more than 20 years.
PGIM Real Estate appointed Matthew Yao, formerly of CBRE Global Investors, as head of China. In this new role, Yao is overseeing the Shanghai-based investment team which supports the deployment of PGIM Real Estate’s pan-Asian investment funds in China.
M&G Investments announced the appointment of Alfred Foo as director, intermediary channels, Singapore. He is based in M&G’s Singapore office and reports to Berny Lin, head of distribution, Asia ex-Japan. Foo was most recently at abrdn – formerly Standard Life Aberdeen - where he had been responsible for Singapore’s wholesale segment covering private banks, retail banks, insurance, and IFAs since 2018.
Citigroup named Victor Alexiev as the global head of a business incubation programme of the bank which examines new business opportunities. Alexiev reports to Valla Vakili, global head of venture innovation for Citi Ventures.

Raymond James appointed former Edward Jones and UBS figure Robbie Moseley as vice president and head of Advisor Choice Consulting, the firm’s financial advisor recruiting platform. Moseley succeeded Barry Papa, who passed away suddenly in March 2021. Moseley reports to Kim Jenson, private client group chief operating officer.
The firm welcomed two financial advisor teams to its employee advisor channel in Georgia. They joined the group’s Atlanta complex, led by manager Craig Norton. Located in the Dalton, Georgia office are former Truist financial advisors Joel Theis, vice president, and Zach Theis, who is part of the firm’s Advisor Mastery Program for new financial advisors. They previously managed $189 million in client assets.
Joining the Raymond James Fayetteville, Georgia office were financial advisors Joshua Pruitt, vice president, wealth management, and Harry Pence and Demetrios Protopapadakis, who are both part of the firm’s AMP program. Along with Jammie Perri, senior registered client service associate, they joined Raymond James from Merrill Lynch, where they previously managed $119 million in client assets.
Raymond James also brought in financial advisors Jesse Brookreson and Brian Trymbiski to its employee advisor channel in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Operating as Great Oak Investment Management of Raymond James, the team joined from Wells Fargo where they previously managed more than $500 million in assets.
Samuel Stewart, co-founder of Seven Canyons Advisors, founder of Wasatch Global Investors and a prominent investor, died at the age of 79 at home on November 23 after recent heart surgery. After receiving a PhD from Stanford and teaching at Columbia University, Stewart returned to his home state to teach at the University of Utah. In 1975 he founded Wasatch Advisors. He served as CEO of Wasatch until 2009 and, late in his career, embraced the opportunity in 2018 to join Seven Canyons to work with his sons Spencer and Josh Stewart to help build another investment firm.
Horizon Investments made two C-Suite promotions, naming Danielle Learned as chief of staff, the first woman to join its executive team, and Stephen Terry as chief financial officer.
Learned, who was previously director of client operations, has been with the Charlotte, North Carolina-based asset manager since 2018. Before joining Horizon, Learned was an assistant vice president of advisory product management at LPL Financial, and previously worked at Oppenheimer & Co, Prudential Annuities, and MetLife Securities. Terry joined Horizon in 2017, following more than a decade in private equity. He began his career at Capital One, where he managed several aspects of its consumer lending business.
Liz Fishbaugh joined Omaha-based Carson Group as VP of strategic growth. Before joining Carson, Fishbaugh spent five years with Arbor Point Advisors as vice president and director of business development.
WisdomTree Investments, a New York-listed exchange-traded fund and product manager, added to its team managing digital assets such as bitcoin. New hires included John Davidson, who joined as the firm’s new global head of financial crimes to focus on anti-money laundering and regulatory compliance. Before this, he served in a similar role at E*TRADE and was a managing director at Morgan Stanley. Prior to that, he spent 19 years as an enforcement attorney and AML policy specialist at the Office of Thrift Supervision, the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, and the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Fiduciary Trust International appointed David W Edmiston as regional managing director for the Greater Atlanta area, joining from Wells Fargo. Prior to this, he worked with Wells Fargo and predecessor companies Wachovia and First Union for 33 years.
Fidelity Institutional appointed Will Parizeau as the firm’s new head of family office services, joining from Cabot Wellington, the single family office he had led. In his new role, Parizeau leads a group that provides custody, brokerage, investment, and reporting services to single family offices, wealthy families, and the advisors who serve them.
BNY Mellon Wealth Management named Mandy Ho as senior director, wealth manager. Ho is based in Seattle and reports to Bo Lee, wealth management team leader. She joined from KeyBank, where she served as senior vice president, senior portfolio manager for nine years. Prior to this, Ho was a vice president, portfolio manager at US Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management for seven years.
Fiduciary Trust International appointed Julio A Lacayo and Emily Morris as wealth directors based in its Washington, DC office. Lacayo joined from Truist, where he served as senior vice president and client advisor. Previously, he was a senior vice president and private client advisor for US Trust.
Mesirow, a US financial services firm, appointed Patrick Leary as managing director to build its new structured debt business. Leary, who holds the post of managing director in Mesirow Institutional Sales and Trading, has worked in the fixed income space for more than 20 years.
Luma Financial Technologies, a multi-issuer structured products and annuities platform, named Arun Kumar as chief technology officer, reporting directly to Tim Bonacci, president and chief executive of Luma. He took over from Adam Hutcheson, who left Luma in August. He is based in Luma’s New York City office. Before this, Kumar was at Citadel LLC, where he was responsible for core platforms, enterprise data and analytics.
Sanctuary Wealth brought in its first team in Michigan and its 18th new partner firm of the year, adding Famiglia Wealth in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Previously doing business as The JW Alati Group at Morgan Stanley, the firm consists of four advisors: Robert F Alati, managing director and founder; Jason Geisz, chief executive and founder; Beth Silver, managing director and founder; Adam Biswanger, wealth advisor; and a team of three support personnel.
CIBC appointed Gina Sabean to join its US private banking team at its business in Palm Beach, Florida, and Ryan DeVries, managing director and private banking market manager, to join its team in Houston, Texas.
Prior to joining the firm, Sabean served as a senior vice president and senior banking advisor at PNC Private Bank, where she specialized in deposit and loan solutions. Previously, she spent 15 years with Northern Trust Wealth Management as vice president and private banking relationship manager. Prior to joining the firm, DeVries served as a senior private banker at The Northern Trust Company.
Global law firm DLA Piper launched a worldwide investment management and funds practice, covering the whole sector’s value chain. The practice is led by international partners Catherine Pogorzelski and James O'Donnell and US partners Jesse Criz and David Parrish.
Crestbridge, the provider of private equity and real estate administration solutions, appointed Marta Ciemiega as business development director for the US. Ciemiega, who is based at Crestbridge’s US office in New York, has more than 17 years’ experience in financial services. Before her latest role, she worked at Sanne Group, where she was responsible for design and execution of North America business development strategy.
Santa Clara-based SVB Private Bank added two senior managing directors to its wealth management arm. Natalya Alexei and Vishal Wadhwa joined a team of 12 advisors that also includes four advisors who moved from Northern Trust following SVB Financial Group’s purchase of Boston Private in July. Alexei and Wadhwa deepened the firm’s expertise serving high and ultra-high net worth clients, notably in technology, life sciences, and venture and private equity. Both formerly led the UHNW private banking business for Northern California and the Pacific Northwest for Wells Fargo Private Bank.
Argent Financial Group appointed Kathleen Plate as vice president and audit manager in its San Antonio office. Plate reports to chief audit executive Kimberly Breithaupt and is responsible for implementation, monitoring and supervision of the fiduciary audit program for the trust companies under Argent Financial Group. Before joining Argent, Plate was with Frost Bank for 25 years, serving most recently as vice president and fiduciary compliance specialist.
A group of wealth management partners collectively called Sweet Financial Partners, overseeing almost $1 billion of client money, joined the Dynasty Financial Partners group of firms, having previously been with Raymond James. The partners are Bryan Sweet, Ty Totzke, Oliver Kollofski and Brittany Anderson.
Bryan Sweet is founder and chief executive. He began his financial career in 1979 and established Sweet Financial Services in 1987 (now Sweet Financial Partners). Ty Totzke, partner and wealth advisor, has been a member of the Sweet Financial Partners team since 2003 and a partner in the firm since 2011. Oliver Kollofski, partner, director of wealth services, joined the Sweet Financial team in 2007 and became a partner in 2013. Brittany Anderson, partner and president, joined the Sweet Financial team in 2008.
Truist Wealth appointed Ramon Jose Pacios as complex director to lead the firm's international wealth brokerage business from its office in Coral Gables, Florida. Prior to this, Pacios worked at Wells Fargo Advisors, bringing 27 years of experience in international business.
CAIS, the US-based alternative investments platform, appointed Abby Salameh as chief marketing officer and as a member of the executive committee. Based in the New York office, Salameh reports to CAIS founder and CEO Matt Brown. Salameh, who has more than 25 years’ experience serving the independent advisor community, was most recently chief marketing officer at Hightower Advisors.
Boston-based Fiduciary Trust Company appointed Suma V Nair as chief fiduciary officer. Her responsibilities include oversight of fiduciary services for Fiduciary Trust Company’s Massachusetts trust company, and its affiliate, Fiduciary Trust of New England. She reports to Fiduciary’s president and CEO, Austin V Shapard.
Rockefeller Capital Management overhauled its senior leadership. It named Christopher Dupuy and Timothy O’Hara as co-heads of the Rockefeller Global Family Office.
Michael Outlaw was appointed to the newly-created role of national field director for the Rockefeller Global Family Office, reporting to Dupuy and O’Hara.
The firm also hired Mark Alexander as the head of technology and operations. Christopher Randazzo, president of private wealth management, stepped away from his leadership role for personal reasons and serves as special advisor to Greg Fleming, president and CEO of Rockefeller Capital Management.
BMO Financial Group made several changes, including naming Deland Kamanga as head of its wealth management arm. He leads strategic direction of BMO Wealth Management, including Private Wealth Canada (BMO Nesbitt Burns and the Private Banking), US Wealth Management, BMO Global Asset Management, BMO InvestorLine and BMO Insurance. He reports to Darryl White, chief executive, BMO Financial Group.
Among other appointments, Sharon Haward-Laird, general counsel of BMO Financial Group, was designated as the bank's executive committee sponsor for three areas of focus: sustainability, the BMO for Women program, and digital currency.
Dan Goldman and Levent Kahraman were named as co-heads of global markets. They oversee all aspects of BMO's leading market insights, risk management, best-in-class execution services and access to major markets across asset classes including debt, foreign exchange, interest rate, credit, equity, securitization, and commodities. Goldman and Kahraman report to Dan Barclay, chief executive officer and group head, BMO Capital Markets.
The PNC Financial Services Group appointed Bryan Salesky, chief executive of Argo AI, to join its board of directors. Salesky co-founded and leads Pittsburgh-based, Argo AI, LLC, an independent self-driving technology platform company that works with automakers.
