Smith & Williamson Hires Trusts Manager From New Star

UK financial services firm Smith & Williamson has appointed Charles Deptford as lead manager for its UK Equity Growth and UK Special Situations Trusts at its investment management arm. He will also assist Rupert Fleming on the Enterprise Fund, a UK long/short offshore fund.
Mr Deptford was most recently at New Star Asset Management where he managed the firm's Equity Income Fund among others. His previous roles have included head of UK Equities at Rothschild Asset Management and four years at Barings where he managed the Equity Income and Equity Growth funds. He will start at Smith & Williamson on 3 June.
Smith & Williamson employs over 1,500 people and provides a broad range of services including investment management, financial advisory services, tax, restructuring and recovery, private banking and accountancy services to private clients, professional practices, companies and non-profit organisations.
The services range provided by Smith & Williamson is split approximately equally between investment management and tax and business services. Smith & Williamson Investment Management has about £7.9 billion ($12.07 billion) in assets under management and advice, as at the end of January 2009.
The client base of Smith & Williamson Investment Management primarily includes private individuals, their family trusts, SIPPs and charities.
Smith & Williamson provides investment services from London, Belfast, Dublin, Glasgow, Guildford, Bristol and Birmingham. Smith & Williamson’s other offices are in Maidstone, Salisbury and Southampton.
