Senior Philanthropy Move At Bank Of The West Wealth Management

More wealth management news at Bank of the West as the firm makes a senior philanthropy hire.

Julie Shafer has joined Bank of the West's wealth management group as head of strategic philanthropy and purpose investing, continuing a raft of recent hires at the firm as it develops its ultra high net worth business.

Shafer will report to Steve Prostano, the newly-appointed head of Bank of the West's UHNW business, which is aimed at individuals and families with over $25 million in assets (see related news here).

Shafer, a 20-year industry veteran, has worked with philanthropists, foundations, non-profits and corporations nationally and globally.

Before joining Bank of the West, she led a philanthropy-focused consulting firm, and earlier was director of development at the Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases University of California, as well as executive director of the Silver Giving Foundation.

At the end of July, Bank of the West Wealth Management hired personal trust executive Doug Sherry as chief fiduciary officer. Earlier in the month, the firm welcomed the inaugural class of BNP Paribas Wealth Management's female entrepreneur program at its new wealth management Center in Palo Alto, CA.
