Robertson Stephens Launches Alternative Assets Wing

Robertson Stephens has hired from Oak Investment Partners to spearhead the launch of its new alternative assets arm, Robertson Stephens Partners.
Robertson Stephens, a wealth advisory and investment management firm for high net worth individuals and families, has appointed Ren Riley as managing director of Robertson Stephens Advisors, a member of its executive committee, and president of Robertson Stephens Partners - a new subsidiary at the firm.
Riley will head up alternative assets, which includes a venture capital fund, a series of private equity funds and separate pooled asset vehicles.
He spent the last 16 years at Oak Investment Partners, where he became a general partner in 2006.
Before joining Oak, Riley was a senior associate with the original Robertson Stephens, where he worked in the corporate finance division and executed several public and private equity offerings as well as M&A transactions in the Internet, technology, business and information services sectors.
