Recruiting Campaign Roundup: Raymond James Signs Up Veterans

The recruiting war for quality financial advisors shows no signs of abating.
Raymond James Financial is the latest firm to announce it has signed up a number of veteran advisors over the past four months.
“Recruiting for both traditional employees and independent contractors has certainly slowed from the record levels of early 2009,” Chet Helck, Raymond James COO and head of the firm’s private client group said in a statement. “But we are still attracting top tier advisors.”
Ron Richardson, and J Dale Thurman, who managed over $86 million in client assets at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, joined Raymond James’ private client group in Oklahoma City.
Alex Opoulos and Nick Holmes joined the Raymond James office in Charleston, SC from Merrill Lynch where they had revenue of $1.1 million and managed over $200 million in client assets.
Tom and Steve Biermann joined the firm’s St Louis, Mo. branch from Wells Fargo Advisors where they had revenue in excess of $770,000 and managed over $100 million in client assets.
Affiliating with the firm as independent contractors were Henry and Lloyd Graham, who came from Morgan Stanley Smith Barney in Houston, Texas, and have already attracted client assets of over $300 million, according to the firm.
Billy Peterson opened an office in Ogden, Utah, as an independent contractor after ten years with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney where he managed $200 million in client assets.
Jodi Vleck moved from Essex National Securities in San Diego, Calif., where she managed client assets of $165 million.
