Raymond James Bank Segment President To Step Down

The St Petersburg, Florida-headquartered firm has announced a change to its C-suite.

Raymond James has named Scott Curtis, its COO, to lead the firm's bank segment next year, effective January 1, 2027, succeeding Steve Raney (main picture), who will move into an executive consulting role after 21 years in the post.

Raney will work with Curtis and the bank segment's leadership team on the handover. He will continue as chair of the Raymond James Bank board and remain a member of the TriState Capital Bank board, the firm's two trust company boards and select bank committees, Raymond James said in a statement yesterday.

The departing COO will leave on a positive note: Raymond James noted that under his tenure, the Bank Segment’s annual net revenues grew from about $41 million in the 2006 financial year to almost $1.8 billion in 2025. Raymond James said its Bank Segment is one of its larger revenue contributors alongside its private client and capital markets businesses.

Curtis has served on the Raymond James bank board since 2019. He will continue to oversee Raymond James investment management, marketing, corporate real estate, and office and procurement services alongside his new banking responsibilities.

In a related change, chief strategy officer Tarek Helal will take on oversight of the firm's asset management services division from January 1, 2027, in addition to his current role.
