Pictet, the Geneva-based private bank, has been awarded membership of The Henokiens Association of bicentenary family companies.

The association represents family-controlled companies that are at least 200 years old, still financially solid and have been owned by the same family since their foundation.

Pictet is the first Swiss company and the first bank to join the association.

The Henokiens Association now has 38 member companies including Pictet. Most of the firms are located in Western Europe, with a handful in Japan as well.

"We share the same values as the Henokiens, such as longevity, independence and the pursuit of excellence,” said Nicolas Pictet, one of the eight managing partners of Pictet and a descendant of Jacob de Candolle, one of the two founders of the bank.

“What's more, we are united by a single ambition: that of preserving, growing and passing down family wealth, the raison d'être of our bank with which we have served our clients for more than 200 years now."
