Penn Capital Promotes Four Managers To Partner

Penn Capital Management, a US investments house, has promoted a quartet of its staff to the status of partner. The individuals are Lisa Matson, Robert McLaughlin, Peter Moran and Richard Simons. The move takes the total number of partners to 21.
Matson is general counsel; she joined Penn Capital in 2014 and is responsible for oversight of the firm’s legal and compliance departments. Previously, Matson was a senior counsel and assistant vice president with Lincoln Financial Group and also spent 10 years with The Vanguard Group.
McLaughlin, CFA, is director of operations, joining the firm a manager of business operations in 2011. He manages and oversees the operations and client reporting functions of the firm. McLaughlin has over 15 years of experience in the investment management industry and was most recently a director with Evergreen Investments’ Global High Yield team, serving as a trader and portfolio analyst. Prior to Evergreen, he held various positions at Deutsche Asset Management.
Moran is executive vice president for global distribution, having joined Penn Capital in 2016 and is responsible for oversight of its marketing and client service functions as well as the firm’s intermediary and institutional distribution channels. Moran brings over 25 years of financial services experience covering asset management, brokerage, banking and insurance for both foreign and domestic firms. He has worked for Pacific Financial, the holding company of PIMCO, Pacific Life, Montgomery Asset Management, JP Morgan Investment Management and Turner Investment Partners.
Simons is senior research analyst. Simons began his career with Penn Capital in 2013 and in his research capacity focuses on the Healthcare sector. Prior to joining Penn Capital, Simons served as a portfolio manager for Turner Investments Partners and as an analyst at Tryphon Capital Advisers focusing on the Healthcare sector in both positions.
Penn Capital was founded in 1987 and is owned by its employees. It is an independent investment management firm located in Philadelphia, PA. It has approximately $5.5 billion in assets under advisement (as of December 31, 2016) and specializes in high yield fixed income and micro-to-mid capitalization equity portfolios for institutions and individuals.
