PREVIEW: Family Wealth Report Family Office Cybersecurity Forum 2026

A one-day conference on June 11 in New York City, held at the offices of BNY, will explore cybersecurity and the challenges it presents for family offices and the solutions available.

Cybersecurity is a top family office challenge and it’s unsurprising, given that these organizations collectively oversee trillions of dollars.

The Family Wealth Report Family Office Cybersecurity Forum 2026 is a great opportunity to learn about the cybersecurity threat, solutions and strategies, and to see real-world examples.

Data suggest how large the challenges are. As a recent article in FWR noted, 43 per cent of family offices globally experienced a cyber attack in the preceding 12 to 24 months – a figure that rises to 57 per cent for North American family offices. Among the largest offices, those managing assets exceeding $1 billion, the rate climbs to 62 per cent (source: Deloitte). Strikingly, half of the families who were attacked were struck three or more times. The article went on to note: “Ultra-high net worth families face risks that extend far beyond financial loss. A single breach can expose travel itineraries, yacht AIS transponder data, or private jet manifests, transforming public curiosity into targeted physical danger. Kidnap-and-ransom scenarios, once the province of geopolitical hotspots, now begin with a seemingly innocuous social media post or a geotagged photograph. Reputational damage follows with equal speed: leaked philanthropic intentions, family governance disputes, or sensitive tax structures can ignite tabloid cycles capable of eroding decades of carefully cultivated privacy.”

Such examples, and the data on breaches and problems, give a flavor of the what's at stake, but of course solutions are what family office principals and professionals need to explore. We hope that this forum, held on Thursday, June 11 at the offices of BNY in Murray Street, New York City, gives figures in the sector a chance to thoroughly discuss the issues, network and come away with ideas.
