New Global CEO At ING Investment Management

ING Investment Management has appointed Gilbert Van Hassel as global chief executive. He will report to Tom McInerney, who will take on the role of chief operating officer on the ING insurance management board, with day-to-day responsibility for all insurance and investment management activities.

Mr Van Hassel joined ING in 2007 as CEO ING Investment Management Europe and will continue in this role until a successor has been found. He succeeds Jacques de Vaucleroy, who stepped down on 26 October to pursue other interests.

Prior to joining ING, Mr Van Hassel was with JP Morgan, most recently as managing director and global head of technology and operations at JP Morgan Asset Management in New York.

ING has also named Jeff Becker as CEO of ING Investment Management Americas. Previously vice chairman, chief operating officer and head of business management and strategy at ING Investment Management Americas, he succeeds Rob Leary, who will take on a new position as CEO of ING Insurance US.
