Morgan Stanley Investment Management has acquired Oxhead Capital Management a Boston-based hedge fund as part its strategy to beef-up its asset-management business.

Oxhead was established in 2003 by former Putnam Investments executives Robert Swift, Nathan Eigerman, and Daniel Phipps, and has about $100 million in assets under management.

Their strategy combines quantitative and fundamental research in a market-neutral global equity strategy.
