Morgan Stanley's Wealth Management Vice Chair Dies – Report

Skae had a career spanning 35 years, including the wealth management industry.

Richard Skae, vice chairman of Morgan Stanley’s Wealth Management Group, has died at the age of 65, a report, later confirmed to this news service, said.

Skae joined Morgan Stanley in 2006 and had been the vice chair since 2017, following a revamp of the firm’s wealth management structure. Before that, he headed the Eastern division for wealth management, overseeing the advisors in one of two large divisions, Barron’s reported yesterday.

A spokesperson confirmed the article to Family Wealth report. FWR extends its condolences to Skae’s family and colleagues at this sad time.

Skae “co-ran the field for many years and was absolutely instrumental to the success of our firm,” said Andy Saperstein, co-president of Morgan Stanley who heads Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, in a memo to the firm’s wealth management organization.

The cause of death wasn't disclosed. The report noted that Skae’s career spanned 35 years and included wealth management, institutional, international, and high net worth experience.
