Merged community foundation calls in heavyweight

Silicon Valley Community Foundation names Emmett Carson president
and CEO. The newly formed Silicon Valley Community Foundation
(SVCF) has named leading nonprofit executive Emmett Carson as its
CEO and president.
The SVCF was created a few months back with the merger of the
Peninsula Community Foundation and the oddly named Foundation
Silicon Valley Community. Carson, for now still CEO and president
of the Minneapolis Foundation, was selected out of a field of
more than 100 candidates.
Visionary
"Emmett is uniquely qualified to lead the new Silicon Valley
Community Foundation because, more than any other candidate, he
brings expertise in every facet of the job," says Patricia
Bresee, chair of Peninsula Community Foundation and vice chair of
the board of the SVCF. "He combines the vision for an even better
community foundation with the management skills to help create
it."
Carson has several times been named among the top 50 most
influential non-profit leaders by the NonProfit Times. He
tripled the Minneapolis Foundation's assets to over $600 million.
He has also helped shape the Ford Foundation, the Joint Center
for Political and Economic Studies and the Congressional Research
Service. -FWR
