Marsh, Aon veterans open boutique insurance firm

Chicago-based boutique zeros in on risk-management needs of high-net-worth. Veteran insurance brokers Rosemary O'Brien and Kent Nelson have established O'Brien Insurance Group, a boutique asset-protection firm for "mass" affluent and high-net-worth individuals.

"The majority of individuals with tangible assets in excess of $5 million prefer to use brokers or independent financial advisors to purchase insurance and obtain risk-management advice over any other channel," says O'Brien. "The focus of O'Brien Insurance Group will be to provide these individuals with the type of consultative, full-service attention they require, such as regular in-person meetings and annual reviews."

Referrals

Chicago-based O'Brien Insurance provides program design and insurance placement for assets such as homes, cars, fine art, jewelry, private planes and yachts in addition to coverage for personal excess liability, flood and ransom insurance. The firm can also make referrals for health and disability insurance, professional liability and other coverage and financial and estate planning.

O'Brien has worked in marketing, business development and client service at Marsh and Aon, among other companies; Nelson's resume includes those names plus insurance brokerage Hilb Rogal & Hobbs.

Earlier this year three veterans of Aon's Private Risk Management group founded BCU Risk Advisors, another Chicago-based insurance brokerage that caters to the needs of ultra-high-net-worth clients. -FWR
