Law firms, M&A org team up to foster collaboration

Primerus and Alliance of Merger and Acquisition Advisors form partnership. The International Society of Primerus Law Firms, a network of small- to medium-size independent legal practices, has teamed up with the Alliance of Merger and Acquisition Advisors (AMAA), an association of middle-market merger and acquisition professionals, to foster collaboration between their respective members.

"Our members typically seek out highly qualified, specialized law firms when they need help with the legal issues they face in transactions on which they advise their clients," says AMAA's founder Michael Nall. "Finding these law firms with a superior level of expertise in middle-market M&A can be challenging."

To ease the M&A professional's search for competent legal counsel and to help attorneys tap into a marketplace of potential interest to their clients, the organizations have founded a website called midmarketplace.com.

Closer to the ground, local chapters of Primerus and the AMAA will sponsor workshops and seminars to help get word out about opportunities in buying and selling businesses.

AMAA members represent sellers and buyers of businesses ranging from $5 to $150 million in transaction value.

Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Primerus has law firms throughout the U.S. and in Ontario, Canada. -FWR
