LPL taps biz development head for advisor services

Independent advisor support veteran Derek Bruton gets new responsibilities. LPL Financial has put Derek Bruton in charge of business development for its Independent Advisor Services (IAS) business group, a responsibility he holds in addition to his position as head of the IAS team that caters to LPL-affiliated broker-dealers.

Bruton's "transition to this role presents a great opportunity for our advisors, who will further benefit from the strength of our independent model, as [he] will be able to create more value for all our independent advisors, regardless of their broker/dealer platform," says," says IAS president Bill Dwyer. A 17-year veteran of the financial-service industry, Bruton joined LPL from TD Ameritrade's institutional division in 2007. He joined TD Ameritrade -- actually its predecessor TD Waterhouse -- in 2005 from Merrill Lynch, where he was in charge of the brokerage's RIA-custody and trading group.
