Julius Baer appoints new WM head for China market

Swiss bank taps veteran private banker to oversee business in growth region. Julius Baer has hired former HSBC private banker Pauline Chung to develop the wealth management business in China. Hong Kong-based Chung reports to Andrea Benenati, CEO of Julius Baer's North Asia region.

"As a pioneer in the emerging wealth management industry in China, [Chung] has spent the last 15 years building advisory teams for other banks and forming significant client relationships," says Benenati. " I look forward to developing our strategy for the China market together with Pauline."


Chung, a private banker for 22 years, was most recently head of HSBC's private-client business in China. Before that, she was UBS' "country team head" in China. She has also worked at the Royal Bank of Canada, Bank of America and Citi Private Bank.


China has one fastest growing high-net-worth markets in the world -- and it promises to be among the very biggest within a few decades. -FWR
