International manager SGA recruits an ex-Harris PM

Hire meant to help discover new opportunities in overlooked foreign stocks. Newport Beach, Calif.-based international investment manager Strategic Global Advisors (SGA) has added Mark Wimer -- formerly a lead portfolio manager for more than $700 million in domestic and international equity strategies for Harris Investment Management (HIM) -- to its portfolio management team.

Experience and depth

"Mark's experience and depth of knowledge in quantitative security selection processes and portfolio management adds tremendous value to our firm and ultimately our clients' portfolios," says SGA's president Cynthia Tusan. "We have known Mark for many years, and we are certain that he will enhance our efforts to offer exceptional investment opportunities in overlooked foreign stocks to our clients."

Before he was with Harris, Wimer worked at Deutsche Bank, Chicago Investment Analytics (now part of Schwab), Ibbotson Associates (now part of Morningstar) and RogersCasey.

SGA managed about $93 million in international large-cap and small-mid cap core equity portfolios for institutions and individuals at the time of its latest ADV filing with the SEC.

HIM -- which, incidentally, recently outsourced its separately managed account outsourcing to Oaks, Pa.-based SEI -- is an affiliate of Chicago-based Harris Bank. It managed more than $16 billion when it last updated its ADV filing. -FWR
